Tried to disengage the emergency brake on my 90 sho and the hand release lever came off in my hand. So I need to know how to disengage it

Call me crazy, but i'd see if there were any cable left that you could maybe grab with a pair of vise-grips or something......

Not trying to res a dead thread... but this happened to me today... but instead of just the handle, I got the handle and about a foot of cable.

There is a little lever on the metal bracket that is bolted to your foot panel down under the dash. The cable used to pull this lever, now you have to do it yourself.
You can get a brake cable assembly that includes the wire and the T-handle from Rock Auto for under $10.00.
I welded a ball of bronze on the end of the cable when mine came off and it has held really well.

You need to stop using the e brake.

??

I only use it on inclines where I don't fully trust leaving it in gear.

The gone in 60 seconds comment was for the guy who asked me what LiLGhettoSmurf was... if any one recalls it is where the black guy calls the skinny black guy a lil ghetto smurf.

I know I saw the movie about 100 times.

I had trouble figuring out which cable it was at Rock Auto and had the same problem at the O'Reilly's... anybody out there know what part to order to replace the parking brake "t-handle" and cable assembly? Thanks.

I don't get to the junkyard too often...
Have RockAuto bookmarked - way easier if I know the part to buy!

Also Advanced, O'Reilly's, Autozone, and NAPA close by.

Not to mention there must be someone here that has one to sell me!

C'mon now - pinched the cr@p outta my finger yesterday releasing it w/o the pull handle - anybody have one of these puppies or know what the replacement part # is?

Revived this old thread rather then start a new one since it pertains to exact problem I'm having.

Thanks y'all...
