Any sugestions on how to paint brake calipers? And which type of paint to use.

I purchased new calipers all around (stock) and i'm going to paint them. Should i do it before i put them on or after?

Any info will be great.

Thanks alot

Baer has caliper paint aval in part stores around here seems to look nice. I usually just use a high heat rust paint. Best to paint them before you install them if you can, just don't let any brake fluid get on them after there painted.

Painting before would be the best idea. You can paint them easier. I was painted mine on the car. I used the duplicolor caliper paint kit I believe. It turned out great and theres PLENTY of paint. I painted all four calipers and I still have at least 3/4 of the can left. The kit comes with everything, a brush, tape, a can of paint, and caliper cleaner. An old toothbrush is also handy when you use the caliper cleaner.

One of my friends used just regular spray paint, which looked good, but after a while it looked like it could stand to be re-painted. Another friend used the dupli-color caliper kit, which is a brush on paint. Drove it through winter and it still looked really well. When I decide to paint mine, I will use the Caliper kit.

Oh and do i just spray the calipers with the cleaner or do i have to scuff them with a sandpaper. (remember there brand new stock ones)

They dont have too many colors to choose from but its a
nice easy paint to work with that comes out with a nice finish.

I used some generic 88 cent per can of spray paint on my calipers and they still look great. Lots of coats, or 1 can per caliper. Been through a winter, and still holding up fine. I can clean them by wiping off the dust with some cleaner, and a paper tower. Can't go wrong with that at $3.50. :thumb:

I used the brush on. Came out great. If I had to do it again though, I would have smoothed my calipers first, they were new also.

Iv used the duplicolor caliper paint and its amazing, btw sregular spray paint wil burn and fade, unless its the heat paint so if you go that route make sure it can handle 500 degrees:thumb:
