In the same boat brother, I have been thinking about this very subject for a month now. I have not made up my mind but since red seems to be so popular I am thinking of doing a racing orange when I do my brakes. Keep me posted on what you come up with or if you see something you like.

Since we refer to mine as the Battmobile
I have had mine a year but only drove it about 6000 miles so we have not really spent a lot of time together, maybe she is "Black Betty", I just thought I could call her "Cash" OR maybe "Darlene" for Darlinton the Lady in Black she has yet to show me who she is.

I'll paint mine Ford blue if I ever get around to it.

So first I have to do my brakes at some point, the 2010-2012 brakes are kind of scary, the car is just too fast for the brakes so when I get the money I am going to replace them with 2013+ brakes. I thought about the Ford Blue but IDK how that would go with a black car, if the calipers had more paintable space I would go with Gunmetal Gray but unless you buy the covers there is really not that much space to paint. I may try the covers but I am not really someone to put on things just because there pretty. So as I said so many cars have red and they all look pretty good so orange is just different enough to have a little special sauce, not my idea someone else did the orange already.

I can give you NO HELP!
I still have not settled on a color, I go back an forth daily, going to start on that project soon so I need to figure it out. Most likly I will go with a Gunmetal Gray, Orange, Or Red. Its really kind of pointless there is really not that much surface to paint.

When I 1st bought my SHO, way back in early 2010, the brakes were terrible. I immediately upgraded to the EBC's, and in doing so, chose to paint my calipers white, to match the exterior.

They lasted quite a while surprisingly. I ended up touching them up twice over several years. Overall I was super happy with the end results. I used G2 Caliper Paint.

Once upgraded to the Wilwood's at each corner, I rocked with black and white powder coating as I liked that two tone look overall.

Here are some pics I dug up, from Summer of 2010 as visual reference.58bc7d59992b74d1d523e86abc9c5a8eFb33267e9f2c1aea5d0a18b38af256c749eb47dd1ed8bf0523e7b5d178eaba88

I got the Silver SHO and wanting to do my calipers also - thinking red has been played out and wanting something other - maybe a darker blue color? What color would contrast nicely against the silver car?

Painted calipers are NOT the same as the caliper covers that you are suggesting.

Not a fan personally of them, more so for the heat retention factor(s) and the containing/trapping of repetitive, accumulating brake dust.

Covers are cheap looking also IMHO.

Take the time to paint them, or do the big brake upgrade as I did eventually. Even amateurs can spot the covers quite easily.

I mean most have spent around $40k new, (give or take) for the car itself, and it just seems to do a disservice to slap those plastic contraptions on. No offense.

Now back to the topic of this thread.....

PAINTED CALIPERS.

I agree with bpd!! I was referring to the calipers themselves and NOT the covers. So what color would look good against my silver car besides red? And I'll never do crazy colors like lime or any green. But blue? Orange? Yellow?

Yellow on silver with a touch of blue, for me, is the ultimate combo.
Pics are of a Gen 3, the one with wheel was before I'd replaced center cap, so it looks kinda ghetto, but you get the idea.

Really Oma..... completely up to you my friend.

98 provides a great example of yellow/blue combo, made even better with the suspension bits matching. Ties theme in really well.

Red I agree is way, way over played.

Maybe try and acquire a variation of the standard/primary colors, since you expressed not wanting to "go crazy" with the lime, or whatever.

Say like a darker blue, or darker yellow. And if orange, maybe like a burnt orange perhaps?

Again, your whip, so have at it. I've always recommended when introducing a new color, make sure that you consider where else you can envision placing it, in order to tie in an "overall theme". It should be somewhat minimal and complimentary given you're not looking for an over the top, obscene appearance.

GPM covers are made of aluminum and are powdercoated. AS for heat retention its the opposite as it collects the air and cools the brakes. Also brake dust is cut in half on the rims and there is no accumulation on the caliper themselves. IMHO painted callipers look cheap, so yeah a set of Brembos would look and do the best job but cost a fortune.
OmaHahn you have the same colour as my wife s SHO and im thinking either red or silver.

Great advice. I learned this the hard way as my suspension yellow has a bit more red than my upper intake and VCs, which were powder coated "sulfur yellow", a very bright shade. It does help to envision what you want overall, keeping in mind if some parts will be powdercoated and others not. This may present a challenge in finding matching colors between the various mediums.
