It's normal for the slight change in color. The pearl in the formula is what gives it that illusion, something like the Mystic Cobra which featured color shifting paint, By the way, that pearl makes it hard to get a good match. There are variants to that color too. Even if you went to ford and bought that actual paint, (I think the color code is PA for GEN II) chances are it will not be a match. Go to a paint shop or body shop, and have a painter tint the color for you. Some paint shops will sell you the paint themselves.

Look at your door plate and you will see a paint code. Write down all the numbers surrounding this box. Go to automotivetouchup.com and with the proper paint code you can order a spray bomb or pints & quarts of the paint. My car is Ultra Red and I got a bang-on dead match using a spray bomb. Shipping is pricey so buy it all at once, and 4 spray bombs cost the same to ship as one.

IIRC Gen II and Plus greens are different. Not positive mine was repainted and ended up shape lighter
The reason I would like to know this is because I am doing some body work on the rear quarter panel and want it to turn out decent I hate doing body work but the looks of the SHO are worth it to me body work is not one of my good things I would much rather be wrenching than sanding and bondo and more sanding and more bondo. The reason that the color matching up is worring me because I have a couple small rust spots other than the one big one and I dont want to be able to see little taped squares in a few spots and I really like the way the paint changes and would like to keep that effect any suggestions?? Sorry so long

You wont get a perfect match. Without having it "faded" into the old paint it will stick out.
Suggestion,
Repair, Preserve, Save, Repaint.
Try having a shop match you up some touch up to hold you over but other than that Im not sure what you could really do.
Are you talking about just a touch up paint or the real thing. cuz I am going to spend the money to have a paint shop mix me up some paint I am going to try my hardest to get it looking professional even if I have to wet asnd and buff an dblend the paint to the other paint

Painting cars is not a tough job, its knowing the ins and outs. What needs to be done to get that color to look just right. If you have one painter mix his own paint, and sprays out a test panel @ 20psi it might be very close, have him spray it @ 25psi and it will not look the same. There are lots of factors. The speed that you move the spray gun, distance from panel, humidity, temp, how much flash time between coats. Lots of factors.
Best thing to do is have a professional do the painting. If you can take care of the body work, have a pro do the painting. A good painter will be able to blend even a silver paint job. I know this because that is what I do for a living.
If you are strapped for cash do the repair spray on some primer and save some cash for a new coat of paint.
What would you recommend sparying the paint at psi wise, I have a compressor and a paint gun. I am strapped for cash and a proffesional paint job is far too expensive right now and chances are if it dont look how it should the whole cars going black. I was going to use the many thin coats method.

Go to a Dupont paint store and they should be able to computer match the paint on you car. I have gotten so I use Dupont exclusively for this reason. Yes use many thin coats over a few heavy ones. Just be careful to let the paint flash out before adding another coat. This will also help in keeping any runs out. I have started using a HVLP gun and love it. Takes a lot less paint and really cuts down on overspray.

Emerald green is NOT a pearl,the frost colors were, it is a metallic and the size of the mica and the PSI plus application thickness effects the color the most. X2 on going to a paint jobber such as car quest as most of them now have a hand held color matcher,that gives you the best results.

There is really no way to tell you at what pressure to spray at, for a few reasons. Type of gun, nozzle size, type of paint, water or solvent based? The best advice I can give you is, ask the paint rep for some pointers, or PM me your number and I will give you all the advice you need.
That is correct Emerald green is not a pearl paint job. A pearl paint job is a 3 stage paint job, base, pearl coat, clear coat. Emerald green has pearl in the base formula, along with white, black, blue, green and 3 other colors. I know this because, I have mixed this color about half a dozen times, heck there is a gallon of emerald green paint sitting here on the desk.
Most people call a 3 stage paint job a pearl paint job. A 3 stage paint job consist of a base coat, pearl coat, and clear coat.
