Hi all,
I'm kinda new to this forum, but I've had my '91 since August '07. I have been reading & searching on this forum for the last 8 months, which helped me do a lot of things: Upper & front 60K, rod bearings (THX Sho Phoenix Project!):hail:, engine codes, crank sensor  , other misc. items. I've had my share of cool cars (BMWs, Stealth, MR2 turbo), but the by far the most money and work goes into my SHO. Despite it stranding me on several occasions...
Anyway: When trying to get the crank bolt off:banghd:, I broke off one of the ******* on the P/S reservoir, the smaller one (return line?). Tried to glue it with plastic welding epoxy, of course, didn't hold.:cuss: What a mess. I drove it for maybe a mile home, w/o power steering. I don't think I fried the pump, at least, I hope so. I already posted in the WTB section for a P/S res, and got a few replies. So, my question is: Till that gets here, can I use a P/S reservoir off another Ford (Tempo, Contour, etc.) from the junkyard? I was unable to find a junked SHO at the local junkyards, much less the P/S res. (I'm in AZ)

Any help or insight is appreciated. Sorry for the long post.

As long as there's a inlet and outlet , yea. You will notice that there,s alot of fords that has a reservoir ON the PS pump which would be useless for you.

You could always Zip tie it until the new one arrives.

P/S res on it's way

I posted in the WTB section yesterday and a P/S res is on it's way.:thumb:
I have roamed the junkyards in the greater Phoenix area for a SHO, no dice. And the pick 'n pull type yards charge $2 just to get in, of course, they all told me they had a SHO sitting around :madflame: of course, NOT. All other Tauri have the res mounted on the pump, so no good. The Contours seem to have the same diameter in/outlets, and so does Tempo/Topaz. I'll try on of these, I'll also check out Toyotas, as Ken mentioned.
This forum is great. Thanks for your help, guys. :thankyou:

Update - P/S reservoir

I got a P/S reservoir from a Chevy AstroVan , it's a nice black metal one that has the same inlet/outlet diameters as the SHO's. Used a zip tie to secure it, as was suggested. However, my replacement should be here any day now.

Thanks for all the good input!

I'd go for the contour reservoir and figure out how to mount it in it's original location...behind the shock tower and out of the way...that'd be nice.

Thanks KEN!!!! Funny... jk

Yup tis true. And it worked. But, the retard that owned the car before me had his mechanic put it on...I just decided, "freakin-a! I'm done looking at that white, zip-tied, underhood cover scratchin', oil dipped piece a doodoo." It was a fifteen minute change too.

Just get one from the junkyard for $5.

I know that's why it's funny. Like "dude, some retard on the forum had a toyota thingy there!"

But, it was funny to me.

It would be even better if you were the one that put it on and left it there for over a year.

LOL,
