ow here we go agian, rear seal??

ok i took out my rear seal today, that wasn't hard, but i have a question, there seems to be a ring around the crank were the seal used to ride, it dosn't look like it's worn into it, rather that a few thousants raised, i don't really want to start scratching at it, is this normal, is it ok to put a new seal in there. on another note, found out why my car smokes so much when it sits, seems the cam sensor seal is leaking bad, runing down onto the exhuast manifold and soaking it, that will be done after the car is back together, but anyhow what should i do about this crank seal, thanks guys/gals.

OK never mind, sorry to waste your time, i found a redi sleeve seal on rock auto, i will go with that and be on the safe side, wew, thats a relief

Replace the seal. If you dont, it will start leaking more than the cam seal does now.

ow yeah i am replacing it, i have my transmission to go in, so i am doing it while it's out. it wasn't leaking but for good measure since i am already in there, and putting on a new flex plate as well, old one had some nicked teeth.
