Ok here we go I'm sure this is a common problem. 1994 ATX. When I come to a complete stop, and hit the gas car doesn't move (tranny slipping) until a loud bang from the tranny, then she catches again. If I drive in 3rd only withthe OD off tere is no problem or slipping. The tranny filter is new and fluid is clean. ANy ideas what or where I go now. Thanks for the help

Your looking at anywhere from $1000 (least likely) to $2500.

We do rebuilds here at http://www.nesho.com for $1800 installed with a 12 month unlimited mile warranty.

Driving on the highway in 3rd gear for extended periods is just going to cook what's left inside the tranny faster, and risk burning up hard parts like the planetaries which could increase your rebuild cost.

Sounds like you burned up 4th gear. I don't know if the SHO Automatics have weak 4th gear clutches and clutch shaft like the GM W-bodies but I burned up my 4th gear in my GTP by screwing around on the highways in Mexico with LS1's. ;)

The 4T65E wasn't designed to be at WOT in 4th gear(overdrive) and will strip the teeth right off the shaft and/or burn up the 4th gear clutches, and around 120 or so I shift into overdrive at WOT. Now it slips out of overdrive when I get any incline on the road, and I'm glad I live in Florida because everything is flat mostly. I baby it now till I can afford to have it rebuilt, and its going to cost me upwards of 2 grand to rebuild it with better parts so this doesn't happen again.

Do the SHO's have the same problem with cooking 4th gear?
