in about 6 months i'm going to need to make a decision on where i'm going to buy my house. after two years i don't see myself renting in st. augustine again. the cocoa beach area is where i'm putting most of concentration. what about the surrounding areas? i plan to drive the whole area next week and wonder if i should avoid any particular areas. i plan to cover merritt island, angel city, satellite beach, cocoa beach and cape canaveral. am i missing anything? :thankyou:

What do you do for a living?

I don't know much about those areas, but I think I would consider them. Pretty much anything along there outside of Daytona. Palm Coast?

if you can afford a place in Cocoa Beach or anything Brevard County beachside go for it,its an awsome place to live.
Merrit Island is ok,thats where i grew up. places like Cocoa and Rockledge are ok too as long as your not too close to the hood.

PM me if you wanna go over some details.

that 192 road I took the other day wasn't too bad...... nice lil country drive

I had a few issues, so as I left Kissimee or wtf, there was a sign, next town 13 miles..... ok cool, I'll stop there and check it out.... 13 miles later, I pass 3 double wide trailers and a flashing yellow light..

whatever you do, don't move to palm beach county or south.... its just a mess.... Stuart is not a bad place, but its starting to get crowded on the roads pretty bad, anywhere north of sebastian along the ocean up to Cocoa is nice, Hutchinson Island is cool... reminds me of northern palm beach county in the Juno Beach area 20 years ago...... I just like the simpler, less people, more country type places....

everwhere down here is just a big clusterF* of ********

thanks for the input guys. looks like i'm gonna drive down for a couple days this weekend. it's mostly condos in cocoa beach that are in my price range, but i'd really like to have a yard and a two-car. i have a few leads in satellite for single family homes. i'm either gonna have to part with more money or find a condo with a large garage which still leaves an empty promise of a yard to a very disappointed great dane.
Brian- i'll be getting with you as via pm as more questions come up. thanks for the info man.

a bunch of the condos in CB have garages, from what i understand you have to pay more at most places to have one. some places have parking under the buildings but your not allowed to do any sort of mechanical work, its strictly for parking.HOA's can be strict in the area so be prepared for that.
don't count out cape canaveral, places are quite a bit cheaper and its really near the same style living as long as your in a decent area.
it'll be nice to have another SHO owner in the area.

If you want a yard and garage, don't get a condo. You'll be miserable. Plus, HOAs blow. You should be able to find lots of houses in your price range (whatever that is).

If its just the sq' for your money that your after, go to the west coast.

You can have 2k sq' with a 2 car and a pool for 30k. mainly cape coral, sarasota. No bs. Problem is, theres no work. But at least theres some decent fishing.

couldnt agree more on the condo thing. Besides not having to maintain your own landscaping, I cant think of one single thing thats good about it. Rules rules and more rules, I wouldnt last a week.

I think in cocoa, north of Patrick Air Force base there is a strip of older houses through there.......... doesn't the road even split and northbound and southbound are a couple blocks apart? through there is what I'm talking about

most of the houses around here were all build in the 60's and 70's anyway, before the space program this area was mostly desolate.
if your coming north on A1A once past Patrick AFB you get into the city of Cocoa Beach A1A does split with one block in between the north and south bound lanes. i cant tell you how many times ive had to get some ******** tourist turn around because there driving along heading north in the south bound lanes.
one more tip, watch your speed beachside in Brevard.each of the small towns has there own police dept. as you can imagine theres not much that goes on in sleepy little upper class beach towns.
