One of my key fobs has an issue will it will not respond to any commands remotely. It will unlock the door by touching the keypad, and will also start the car, but it will not unlock (or lock) the doors and trunk. It has a new battery. I reviewed instructions for reprogramming it, however, they state that I need two working key fobs to do this. Need help to determine if there is a programming fix, or if the fob needs to be replaced. Thanks!

most likely a bad battery. there are two in there and the one that controls lock etc. is the one that usually dies first.

well, I haven't had the SHO one apart, but in the Lincolns, when you take off the cover, you see a battery. Then, if you lift out the plate that the battery is on, you see that there is another layer and another battery under there. I assume the Ford ones are the same, since they are the same shape.

The IKT uses 1 battery, while the IAT uses 2 for the Fusion.

For the 2011 Taurus:
The integrated keyhead transmitter (IKT) or intelligent access key (IA key) uses one coin type three-volt lithium battery CR2032 or equivalent

Interesting. I've seen fobs where there were two batteries in series, but this is the first I've seen where the 2 batteries are insulated from one another for two separate features. I'll have to keep that in mind for future reference.

Just to add a picture since everyone loves pics...

If you have this style remote, you only have one battery. I took mine apart last night to check.
