I had my intake completely dissassembled and cleaned 3k ago. I took the crossover tube off today to have a curious peek as to how it was fairing. I was appaled to see puddles of oil in the tanks. I expected the iside to have a layer on it (which it did). Some carbon from the EGR stuck to the walls (very little). But, I was surprised to see the puddles in there, is my PCV system functioning correctly or do I need to replace anything with that system?
Thanx, Doug

Sorry I had included it but accidentally deleted it. Was in a hurryso...

There are two things you can do to eliminate or greatly reduce the PCV condensate from collecting in the intake.

One is to use some exhaust scavengers and connect the hose that goes from the oil separator to the TB to this.

The other thing you can do is install what I call a condensation can. This is a metal, baffled, self draining 3" tube that is connected in line with the hose that goes from the oil separator to the TB.

In either case you need to plug the valve cover ****** that is feeding fresh air into the PCV system. If you just do this it will reduce the condensate by 50%.

You should also use a high quality oil that will not vaporize as easily. Synthetic is best in this case.

Well, as for quality oil (not to open a can of worms) but I have used Castrol GTX 10-30 for as long as I have owned the car with 2k change intervals. So, basically if the PVC system is left stock this is something to get used to?

How did you make it self drain? Do you have any idea how much moisture would be collected during an average winter month?

I used a spring loaded brass 3/8 check valve mounted upside down.

Before I made the self draing one I would get about 300ml a week of about 300 miles driving. really depends on the ambient temp. The hotter it is the more moisture in the air.

Here's a picture of it draining when parked for awhile last winter.
