WHen my car is cold it is just fine.

After about 15 min of driving when I stop at a light or sitting in park my oil light comes on at about 700-800 RPM's

I have to give it gas to almost 1000RPM's to get the light to go out.

I took it to get an oil change yesterday and it still does it.

I checked the oil and its fine.

My CE light is off

I hope i dont have a bad oil pump

Thanks,

Your engine should be idling higher than 700-800 rpm. Reset your idle speed programming. What grade of oil are you running? Since we are out of freeze season where the temps can get below zero F, you could be running 10W-30.

Still, that is a rather elevated rpm to not have adequate oil pressure. Either the pump is weak, the pressure sender is inaccurate or the rod bearings are worn.

Actually, the drive idle RPM for a Gen 2 ATX is 700 rpms under the factory programming, Scott. ;)

I'm assuming the vehicle in question is an ATX, since he mentioned "sitting in park".

1. Easiest thng to do is rule out the sender first. This may require it's replacement. You might also try cleaning the connection.

2. If you still get the oil light after that, it time to change the rod bearings. Even doing this is not really expensive at all, just a little bit of labor involved.

3. If you continue to get the oil light after changing out the rod bearings, then you have some harder decisions to make regarding your SHO motor.
