Just wondering where the typical oil leaks occur from on the Gen 2 ATX's. Ive got an oil leak and its dripping onto the exhaust and it smokes decently when at a light. Just trying to get some input before i start to dig in. Im leaning more towards the oil pan gasket. Should i be able to get by with a new gasket or do i need to get a new pan too? Im not sure if these warp or not?

I had a rear valve cover gasket that leaked directly on the exhaust on my old 95 ATX....nice puff of white smoke out the passenger side of the car.

Oil Leak

Oil pressure sender is many times a cuilprit. It's on drivers side & firewall side of engine difficult to see & get to.It can leak like an open spigot when it gets going. The good news is part is less than $10.00.

Did you get this figured out?

on my 94 ATX, the 2 major oil leaks I had were the oil pressure switch on the drivers side, which certainly can leak like an open faucet when it gets warm, but it usually falls straight to the ground.

And the Crank Seal on the passenger side, which also leaked like crazy once warm, and directly on to the exhaust causing tons of smoke. (enough to get me a ticket for unnecessary smoke one day) Im gonna guess this is your problem. part was cheap enough.. I think I had about 250,000 on mine when this happened so I cant complain really.

took me a couple weeks to find the first leak with that pressure switch cause Id always look after the car was off and the leak would stop as soon as the engine wasnt running anymore. I never actually saw the loss of oil, most of it ended up on the highway probably, lol.. but one day I stopped at a store after the car had been running for a good 45 minutes. I left it running as I knew Id be quick inside, and when I came out, I saw the river coming from under the car. I then knew that as soon as I got home Id have to leave it running and grab the light and take a look. saw it pouring out of that damn $8 part.. the day I decided to fix it, seemed like another 2 weeks trying to get that damn thing out.

Okay, I searched through every post I could find on this Oil Pressure Sending unit leaking issue...so...HOW exactly do you get to it to replace it??? My SHO is an ATX, and even with it up in the air on a lift, yesterday, there didn't seem to be any way to physically get your hand and/or a wrench or ratchet up between the trani, the oil pan, etc., and get TO the sender...
I looked down from the back side of the engine, and it would seem you would have to be quadruple jointed to get your hand and arm around the back of the engine, and under the exhaust manifold to get to it.
Is there someone who's replaced one on an ATX that found a way to do it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just put a nice new Borla SS Cat-back exhaust system on it, and this oil leak has always been an annoying problem (smokes like all **** on the cats)...

not sure about atx but mtx you need an oil pressure sending unit socket, available at any parts store for a couple bucks. As far as getting in there to it dont know because never owned an atx.

Remove intake? Seems like there should be plenty of room from above with the intake out of the way.

By the way, removing the intake should take less than a half an hour for anyone that turns wrenches.
