Brought my SHO in for its first oil change today and to change the peeling chrome trim on the brake light. While it was in I told them to check the brakes because the pedal is soft. I go to pick it up to find a huge chip and 3 inch scuff on the front wheel. Service manager comes out to check it out and says they will replace the wheel. Good thing because I was about to start screaming at someone. Even though they are replacing it I am still ******, should not have happened in the first place.

It was a mistake, and they're owning up to it.

It's too bad it happened, but to be honest that's the best possible outcome you could have given the circumstances.

so you're saying you're really ****** off because they're human, and being human, they make mistakes?

Sounds like you need to tweak your expectations a little. They fixed it. Let's move on, shall we...

Owning up to it is having the manager call you and say "hey, your car is ready to be picked up. By the way, one of our mechanics accidentally scratched one of your wheels, we have another one on order for you to replace the part we damaged"

That's not what happened though, from what I gather in the original post. Maybe the mechanic didn't notice the damage? I would be a little POed as well. It is good that they are taking care of it in the end.

Maybe.

A guy I work with brought his tire in to have a nail puncture plugged. Got his car back and his wheel was just smothered in grease. Took it to the car wash to find out it was scratched and dinged to ****. I'm assuming the guy messed it up and did the ol' smear grease and hopefully he wont notice trick.

But hey, I understand why you'd be ******. I'd be ****** too, but thankfully they're gonna replace it.

They didnt mention it in the phone call to tell me it was done, and when I walked in ****** off all they had to say was how much the bill was for the oil change which reminds me, how many quarts of oil does our car take? The bill said it was for up to 5 quarts of oil.

yeah the 5 quarts is a standard price for an oil change. Most cars take 4.5 - 5 quarts.

Now your just looking for shit to nit pick. lol

Don't expect 5 star service from any mecahnic or dealership. You're lucky as **** they didn't just say, what? that was alreayd like that. I'm suprised it was that easy to get a new wheel. Thats probably 1000 dollar wheel or some crazy crap, I would just be thankful that's all that happened, and that they repaired it free of charge.

Not quite that much, try around the $600 +/- range. But I have to agree with them being so "helpful" as to replace it.
The way I think it happened is: the tech guy "scurbed" the wheel, said a few choice words, then proceeded to tell his boss. His boss said "Let's see if the guy notices it, then we'll go from there."
Luckily for way2evil, he noticed it. I feel once he would have left the dealer, they would have had no grounds to replace that wheel.

There is nothing wrong with expecting someone who gets paid to work on vehicles to do said work without jacking up said vehicles.

First off I'm glad you found it and the dealer is fixing it.

With that said, how many of us walk around our vehicles and inspect them before leaving the dealer.

Usually I'm just in a hurry to get out of there. I think actually I will have to do 2 inspections. One with the Service writer before and one when I pick it up. Without the drop off inspection, they could say it was already there.

IMO if you don't trust the dealer, find a new dealer.

There isn't a mid to large size dealership in existence that I trust 100%. There's too many individuals there covering their collective ***** to be certain.
That doesn't mean everyone there will screw you. It does mean you never know if just one person jacked your car & didn't say anything (or is the service writer or mgr. who like to not accept liability if they can find a way around it.)

So the wheel came in today and I went down to get it put on. It came damaged from Ford(probably in shipping) and they sent it back. Not only that, but I also got a 1 inch chip in my window from a dump truck.

I guess I'll be taking the post on a different route- did you notice the mileage before then after pickup?

I say it was a joyride gone bad, unfortunately.

Yea, they didnt drive it. It isnt that kind of damage to the wheel. It almost looks as if he hit it with the impact wrench while it was still spinning
