Hi!
I’m a new member here. I have a 2012 SHO with the PP. I purchased the SSM torque mounts with both the street bushing and the hybrid bushings for the front mount. Of course the rear mount is only street. From what I have read, I understand there has been some arguments over the SSM and AD mounts, and the last thing I want to do is cause an argument over that. I got the SSM ones and I just wanted to hear some experiences with them. I started off with the street bushings. Tons of NVH, especially through the steering wheel and at 1,500-2,000rpms. Almost sounded like exhaust drone, especially on the highway. Performance was vastly improved over stock though and am very pleased. I swapped out the the hybrid front bushings and the NVH is much reduced and closer to stock, and have not noticed any decrease in performance. I have read guys have just completely disconnected the front mount like the January/17 + cars and have also had good luck. It is my daily, and I wanted to resolve the “clunking” of the drivetrain in traffic, as well as have all the benefits these mounts provide. It has absolutely done that. I just wanted to verify that my NVH is normal or not and if there is a “break in” period I should wait for to be done before making a judgment. Like I said, I am new, so if this has already been covered, I apologize and if someone could just kindly refer me to that thread. Thanks guys!!

I have both sets though I haven't put in the AD mounts to try yet, but my SSM mounts have worked great. For the hybrid bushing set I feel like there was a little bit of a break in period. After 2 weeks or so the NVH dulled a little and now there is only issues around idle rpm but I have since raised it to remove said problem.

Ok that’s good to hear! I really hope they do break in because the performance of them, and how they fix the clunking in traffic or just when driving hard is excellent. What I’m most concerned about is the drone that is has created when driving around. Really hoping that goes away because it honestly is a deal breaker if it doesn’t. Sounds just like exhaust drone but is purely vibration being transferred to the car. I appreciate the quick reply!!

I have the AD mounts. there was a drone at first. After about 500 miles of break-in i Don't notice it anymore. you can also raise idle if you notice an idle drone.

Ok excellent. Yeah I have only put about 75 miles on them so far. I’m happy to give them some time, I just wanted to make sure that they would actually break in. Thanks!! Also, I would assume raising the idle is done through a tuner? I don’t have a tune/tuner yet, but I do have FORScan. Not sure if I could raise idle there? Thanks!!!

Depending on your tuner some allow you to do it yourself like AJP, others like ortiz/GH/BCB/Unleashed you'll have to request it be upped.

It will break in over time but if the end you still find it too much NHV then just put in the back mount and put the stock front mount and you will get the best of each.

Yes so right now I’m running the hybrid(softer) front mount bushings and the street rear. Like I said, much improved. Going to wait to see if gets better. But the mount kit is the same from 10-19 I believe, even though the January/17+ cars didn’t get the front mount, so could I just disconnect it altogether if need be? I feel conflicted on this because obviously there must be a reason the front one is there...maybe not, I don’t know. Everyone seems to say it’ll break in, and I’m really hoping for that. Thanks!!

you can just take the front mount out.
That’s good to know. I wonder why Ford decided to remove that, or why it was even there in the first place. There’s probably an entire other thread on that but it’s just odd that it’s totally fine without it.

My guess would be it was removed to save money.

Hi guys,
So just as an update. I have put about 1,200 miles on the mounts in two weeks. All sorts of driving, traffic, beating the **** out of it, but mostly average driving. I have noticed slight improvement but not much. I will be getting my tuner tomorrow, and I’ll report back how raising the idle effects things. Thanks guys

More time is your friend! And some hard launches will not hurt.
If the nvh is a problem just put in the back mount and in 6 months put it the front mount. This will break up the break in.
