as a test, I want to run up to NRP tomorrow and run the turbo car. half the test will be getting there and back, the other half to see what-she'll-do. If anyone wants to meet there I'll be there till about 7:30pm.

i'm going to take a half-day so i'll be there at opening. if i'm not, i'll be on the side of the road.

also I have a video camera, but no cinematographer as of yet. turbo car + drag strip = excellent time to take video. either it will explode (SHOBOOM) or it'll run perfectly, either way it would be neat to have it on tape.

Thanks for hanging out Jim, I really have not had that much fun in a while! Appreciate you rolling back with me too.

the turbo car has an OK WOT tune but the part throttle tune is a nightmare, yikes. that along with the anemic brakes and no turn signals makes for some scary situations. put on over 155 miles today like that.

I should post the story of the SHO Messiah though:

while wait for the gates to open, I took a nap in the back seat with the radio on. as the gates open I move to the front seat and start-er-up. after 10 or so seconds I try to move the gear selector into drive, emphasis on TRY. the thing is STUCK in park.

I promptly rip out the console looking for the lock pin so i can manually put it in drive, no luck, motorhomes are swerving around me with dirty grimaces on their faces by now.

then he came...

he asked me to step out of the car, he promptly gets in, starts the car and pulls off to the side of the aisle. gets out.

then he says this, without another look at the car.

SHO Messiah: your cruise control servo is bad, you need to replace it, you'll find you have also blown fuse #4, and you don't have brake lights. once you replace that fuse, unplug your CC servo and you should be good.

he walks away and then disappears into the maze of motorhomes and rednecks. I've have been SAVED!!! :hail: :hail: :hail:

Too bad the 93' is uber slow... I am finishing a painted and clean intake... I am also going to put those mystery plugs in (thanks Corey) and also a new fuel filter... if that does not fix the problem my only other guess is that remaned MAF. I have an extra stock unit I may try. To me even in 95 degree weather and (a horrible 60' by me) I still should have hit a 15.2. All I could muster was a 15.6 at 92.

don't forget to gap those spark plugs to .044" I think I had that batch gapped at .035".
Noted... I scored a complete SHO intake gasket set today for 26 bux... I coulda swore I used to pay around 60 or so. In any event I am going to finish painting the intake tonight and reassembling tomorrow and installing with the new plugs, a different MAF and a new fuel filter.

Back in Michigan ... again.
15.6 in that heat IMO isn't bad. and your trap speed isn't really off by much. You're just used to the GTP and a nitrous-boosted SHO  What kind of 60's were you getting?

****** high 2.4's cause SHO's have no torque... the second run I just dropped the clutch at 3k and not even a scr3eech... it just caught and bogged through first. 15.6 is just ******... I am not used to that. I ran 15.0 in the black 93' without nitrous in the same kind of heat and 15.2 in my plus in high 80 degree heat. Maybe I just finally have a "normal" SHO and the ones I had before were something a little special. I also have to admit my "SHO driving" abilities aren't quite what they used to be.
