I was driving the other day and heard a loud POP under the hood. After that, it seemed I had almost no boost and my engine was really loud. I looked under the hood and the "noise maker" had popped off. I tried to reattach it -- it looks like it's just supposed to slide on and lock, but mine doesn't lock tightly and if I wiggle it, I can remove it.

Is there a trick to get this thing to lock on? Or if it doesn't lock on by itself, does that mean it's broken? I really don't want to pay for a part that I don't need and I'd be more than happy to plug it, but after searching here I'm confused if anyone has successfully plugged it and with what. I don't need any additional noise in my car, my radio is usually too loud anyway.

Thanks ;)

I'm going to reply to own post :D After searching a for a while on here, I see that this thing is not needed. It would have cost a bundle to have this fix at the dealer, so I got one of those Rubber Expansion plugs (1 1/38") and just put it in and tightened it. Works great, and I guess I had a leak in the noise thing because my car is responding a lot better now under acceleration!! Just thought I'd share in case someone else has a similar problem. Quite unexpected to have something like this break with just 45,000 miles....
