i just did a engine swap on my 92 mtx.I used a 91 motor with 75k on it,i changed over the engine harness and replaced many parts like crank position sensor, cam position sensor,DIS,plugs, wires. Now engine cranks with very dim engine light flickering.I have fuel pressure and good spark but i"m wondering if this no start has something to do with crank position sensor or ECU or even wiring harness. The 92 engine had a stumbbling problem that would not let the engine idle at all, it seems that this problem carried over to the new engine but its just so bad it wont start. The firing order i got from mitchell on-demand but when i spray starting fluid in the intake and start engine it sounds like the timing is off.I did put a new timing belt on and the marks were perfect so i have no clue what is going on.Please if someone can help,im lost TY

Simple question - a ton of possible answers. To start, the list of parts you replaced - were they all new or did you swap some from the old engine?
What other parts did you swap - (that could bring the problem with the part)
Did you set the gap on the CPS properly?
With those answers, someone may be able to begin to help you troubleshoot the problem.

yes make sure all the connections are tight and inplace. it could even just be the rear passenger side intake ground... a lot of people forget about that one...

but if you did use the used CPS and CID sensors from you old engine, they could be the problem. it is posible that the ECM could be bad, but thats not the first thing to look at...

check your timing belt like you said, and check the firing order on SHOtimes or Pheonix SHO project to find the right firing order (some of the manuals show the wrong order)

if you were not able to gap your CPS then that is most likely the problem...the first time you rotate the crank while trying to start, it will destroy the sensor if it touches it.

all major tool and auto parts stores have gap 'feeler' gauges, they are all different thicknesses, last time i checked they were not more than $10 for a set of like 20 sizes...

The gap is to be set at .030". :thumb:

Also look through this section on SHO Phoenix Project's site if you haven't already, it is a great guide to making sure you have everything right: http://www.shophoenixproject.com/lower60k/lower60k2.htm
