That simple? I would think it would be somthing much more serious. Ill give it a look.

Yep. It might not be broke, as in the shaft being snapped, but the inside of the CV joint will be worn out. You can check this under the car jacked up or not. If it's jacked up, it might not start grinding unless you apply the throttle pretty hard while in gear. What you're going to be looking for when the grinding is occuring is which axle is spinning without the tire moving. You will need to look where the axles are coming out of the transmission, because it's usually the inner CV joints that crap out and you will not see the axle shaft spinning, only the CV joint outer cup deal. Good luck.

Edit: Noticed you never mentioned anything about grinding, so you might have had one of the CV joints come out or the axle completely pop out of the transmission. The transmission is still working and spinning the differential and that's why your speedometer is moving, but something is not turning the wheels.

Do what? How do you know it's broke inside the transmission if you haven't even pulled it out? Or, do you mean it broke on the little stub that slides in the transmission?

Do you mean the axle is broke and you can't pull it out? You need some sort of pry bar or big flat head screwdriver to pop the CV housing away from the transmission for the drivers side. The passenger side requires that you remove the two 10mm bolts holding the intermmediate shaft in place, then it'll slide right out.

I highly doubt there's anything wrong with your transmission unless the previous owner installed one of those POS Phanton Differentials that destroy every thing inside of it.

yeah the axel comin out of the tranny is broke like 1 1/2 inches inside and its on the drivers side

Oh, I got you know.

You're going to need to remove the passenger side and use something to push it out from the other side, like a long screwdriver. The tip is being held in by a little C-clip ring and wont take much to push out.

Glad you found the problem! :thumb:
