1995 ATX. I've had this happen intermittently, will get in car, turn key, has battery power, all dash lights work, radio, etc. Will turn to crank and absolutley nothing happens, I can't remember if I heard fuel pump, but think not. No crank, no clicks, no attempt to start. It seems like there is a power draw as wipers stop, and other stuff pauses for a moment when I turn to crank position. However it will start up most of the time just fine. Seems more noticable in very cold, or once in extreem heat many years ago. Or if car has been ignored too long. Will probably work when I go home.

From what I can find of wiring diagrams there is no actual starter relay on this car. I have tried cylcing through the gears and tried in neutral also in case it is the range selector / neutral safety switch. Made no difference this am.

I picked up a ignition switch as I am reading on hear it could be worn (unfortuantley thread I found was for a Gen 3) , but the fact that when turned to crank postion wipers and such paused like normal as if the power draw from starter is taking the voltage lower and cancelling accessories. Could it be the starter?

For the 2nd generation cars I believe the relay is built into the starter. 9 times out of 10 when I've had no crank conditions if had been a cabling or contact issue.

If it doesn't crank at all then it's from battery to the starter typically. My first guess is wiggle wires and rap on starter. You can go under and look at connections. Starters are cheap and easy to change. Quality can be hit and miss though.
