need tires!

I'm looking to get new tires for my car and i have no clue which tires to get. I was just wondering what you guys recommend. I have a '91 SHO and I am looking to spend around $200-300ish for new tires.

If you are willing to spend a little more and don't need to drive in the snow, I would get sticky summer tires. You won't believe how much better your car stops and goes around corners. The tires will cost about $100 ea with tax, mounting and balancing. I have used Dunlop SP8000 and Yokohama ES100 and they are great tires. I have also used Kumho 712's but I don't like them as much as I liked the Dunlop or the Yoko's.

Go to Discount Tire if you have one in your area, we have a huge selection, and most are in stock. If not, they can order it for you. They will match Tire Rack prices also. That way, if you get a flat, they will fix them FREE.

Those BF Goodrich T/A's from TireRack.com are 'T' speed rated. The best deal I've found on 'H' rated (which is still a lower speed rated tire than the factory tires were) are some Yokohama's at DiscountTire.com, $70 each (with free shipping).

Yea, but how often do you really drive that fast? I almost never drive over 118 which is what the 'T' is rated for IIRC. 'H' woulda been nice but it was like another $20 a tire, so I figured it wasn't worth $80 just to be able to go that much faster. Besides, I wouldn't trust the rest of my suspension components much above 120 anyway. Getting to old! I'm not sure which Yokahama's you found, but that sounds like a pretty good deal, although I dont know if they are all season or not, which is what I wanted.

It is not just about how much speed the tire can handle, it's much more than that. A "T" rated tire has softer sidewalls so the reaction from the car takes longer to respond. Even at highwayh speeds 65-75 mph the car does not feel as stable. Braking distance is also increased with a softer sidewall tire. It is always best to replace with the equivalent performance rating or better from the factory.

I would strongly suggest Nitto NT55 ZR's, Between 100-130 bucks for 245/45/17's, Like the ones on my 96, Good tire for the money, Great traction and they last quite a While.
