Impressive weight, IMO. I weighted the stock 20’s on my MKS and they were 61.5lbs with 255/45/20 tires...
Not sure I want to go down the rabbit hole of weighing tires, it was hard enough just to find a dealer that actually listed weigh of wheels much less finding an actual light weight wheel that I liked. Once you get into tires there are so many things to think about an limited availability, think I will just go with what I like. But it does seem to handle a little better so I do think it made a difference.

I'm on a posting roll today and since its the holiday season I have been driving the SHO just cause I can, I have some information for anyone who is interested.
Stock Wheel Weight 34 pounds
Replacement Wheels 25 pounds

Using my handy an trusty calculator it tells me I removed 36 pounds of un-sprung weight from the car, WOW!
- Based on absolutely NO scientific or empirical data, just seat of the pants feeling and wishful thinking I truly believe it made a difference. In general the girl just seems quicker an lighter overall, feels like she no longer hates to turn, an off the line spins up a little quicker. The brakes seem to grab harder with less peddle and I feel like the nose comes down without being ****** about it. I am not in love with the looks but I like them better everyday, and it no longer looks like all the other black Taurus's out there, besides I can always paint the rims if I decided there just not me. The car drives so much better wish I'd held out for a sale on the ones that where 22.3 pounds, but I was tiered of waiting and they would have been another $500 when it was all said an done. Bottom line for 927.50 I improved handling, braking, acceleration and I don't have to worry about my TPMS sensors battery's going dead. If your looking to replace your rims pay attention to there weight IMHO it makes a difference.

36lbs...and you're feeling it?

hmmm, guess a lot of folk in the car-go-fast life will be keeping away from snacks now that the holidays are over

Rotational mass can absolutely make a difference. But I’d be interested in knowing the weight of the tires. Their mass is furthest from the rotational center and therefore would have the most pronounced effect.

LMAO I understand you being skeptical and removing 36 pounds from the driver seat would do almost nothing, Well I would be much healthier and happier but the car would not be noticeably different but I give you the below information for your consideration about un-sprung rotational weight.

- Get a piece of rope and spin it over your head, Now tie a 10 pound wight to it and spin it over your head, WAIT STOP DON'T DO THAT but you get the point.

LOL - As I said its just seat of the pants an I admit it could be wishful thinking, BUT YES when it comes to un-sprung weight it makes a huge difference, Do a Google search there is all kind of information, including where they tested a drag car by putting lighter an lighter wheels on, the car got faster with each set of wheels but the law of diminishing return always wins in the end. Additionally the term "Mag Wheels" comes from the 60's when they put lighter "Magnesium" wheels on the drag cars so they would go faster. LOL

But I’d be interested in knowing the weight of the tires
They are Goodyear's, I have not looked up there weight, I'm trying to wait until I actually need tires before I go down that rabbit hole, as long as my new tires are not heavier I will be happy, since it took forever to fine the right wheel.

Tirerack has these. They weigh 21Lbs. I kind of like them.
I was wondering what size these where, I could not find anything in a 20" that was under 22 pounds, and they where around $300, I considered going to a 19" because there where a lot more choices but I like the 20" and I would have to buy new tires so the ones I ended up with was a good compromise.

Will do. I wanted the black ones with the Firestone indy 500s, but they were on backorder till mid July. I'm running the LMS 4+ tune with drop in filter, thermo, gapped plugs, and 3 bar map. I love my little sleeper lol

I've actually been eyeballing those wheels since they are crazy light for the money. Looking forward to seeing how they look!

I may not be the best candidate of the difference these wheels make guys, but holy ****!!! I went from a 245/50r20 66.6lb rim and snow tire, to these 245/45zr20 51.8lb summer tires and it's like getting a tune all over again! Lol I couldn't be more happy. I can feel the tires searching for grip and chirped into second gear. Only thing is, now that I've taken my tractor tires (as someone called them the other day) off, holy fender gap and dingy brakes.... guess I know where I'll be upgrading next. How do you guys think they look?951be909f1ff3afb4726de599d37ee36

They look good, I was thinking about those for mine but at the ones I got where cheaper enough to make it worth the difference. Glad I am not the only one who noticed a big difference in performance, there where some people out here who made fun of me so I was beginning to think it was all in my mind. It really is noticeable, not only in acceleration but in handling an braking also. Anyway looks good glad your enjoying your slightly more nibble steed.

Got a part/model number for these? :burnout:
-There called FK-ETOS RT-57 - ITEM# 20534
-I got mine at Discount Tire, I just looked them up there still priced at $185.00

I've got no idea how well built the rims are BUT I'm pretty sure everything coming out of China is pretty much the same, I did A LOT of research looking for a rim I really wanted and could afford, but kind of gave up an punted, anything not built in China is expensive, anything built in the USA is crazy expensive. Since I'm not going to track the car I bought the lightest wheel, that I kind of liked an could afford, and not worry about messing it up. Good thing because I was paying for parking awhile back, got in a hurry, and now one of them needs a little paint. Hope that helps, Have a great week.

The 80's throw back in me would lover to have a set of Weld Drag Lite's or something resembling them in a 20".
I tried to find rims that would make my car look like it just drove off a NASCAR track, LOL It is kind of amazing that number of rims I looked at and other then the Forgline's which are a work of art but cost as much as my car, I could not find anything I loved. But the car does drive better with the lighter wheels.

I'm in love with how light my suspension feels after taking off 60 lbs of unsprung weight.

I know the feeling, I really wanted a set of HREs but they were out of my budget.
