Hello guys! I’ve had a 2015 Taurus sho for about 2 1/2 years now and thinking about getting a tune. I’m at about 64k miles and have had no problems at stock so far. I’m currently looking at the LMS tune since I live in Michigan. I really don’t know what else to look at and I’m pretty new to all of this. Could use somebody’s help! Thanks!

Don't do it! Not with LMS. You'll have problems.

I'm using Unleashed. Torrie can get you a decent tune that will improve power and BE SAFE.

If you want to go a little more aggressive some of the guys here will chime in soon with their suggestions. None will recommend LMS under any conditions.

The biggest question you need to ask yourself is are you the kind of person that slaps a tune on and you're happy with it, or are you the kind of person wanting to experiment with your car, wanting to try multiple tuners and see what works best for you?

If you are just ready to tune and leave it be after, then LMS will be fine for you. I can't comment on their tuning practices beyond what I see posted in here and on Facebook.

If you want to try multiple tuners to see who works best for your needs and driving style/performance goals, then I would suggest getting an SCT handheld then you can try any of the multitude of tuners available for the platform, us included.

Yea I've been seeing a lot of hate on the LMS tune on this forum lol. How is yours running? Any issues? I just want some input because I really don't know anything about this. One of my buddies said I should tune my Taurus so I'm looking into it currently. Any feedback helps. Thanks!

I bought the SHO Power Package from Unleashed but I upgraded my programmer to a Livewire TS. So I'm running colder spark plugs, colder thermostat, and 3 bar MAP. I also bought a cold air intake and a catch can and had Torrie send a 93 octane tune.

I can tell a power increase and so far I've ran it for about a year and half with no issues at all. And since I'm not running a proprietary programmer, I can have my car tuned by others if I ever decided to. I drive my car daily. While I'd love to mod it for as much power as possible, I need it to crank every morning and not leave me on the side of the road.

I don't have personal experience with LMS but some of the guys here have blown engines due to them. Also some of their packaged tunes have known issues. I believe they've corrected them now with updates, but I just opted to go with someone more highly recommended.

Yea I also daily this car so I can't go too crazy on it. I want to put some power down but at the same time not dish out a lot of money. Have you heard anything about Gearhead? They seem reliable.

If you're worried about cost you should spend your money on maintenance items first. You should need all new driveline fluids by now. Coolant probably needs changing.

DO NOT GO TO LIVERNOIS!! their Tune blew my transmission seal and now my car is in the shop. very unreliable and terrible customer service, i have a gear head tune waiting to go in and i’ve already had a way better experience with them than i ever did at livernois. STAY AWAY FROM LIVERNOIS!! I tell anyone and everyone i can to not go to livernois because all it is is a financial mistake and you’ll have to resell the parts.

Aside from the clown show that is Livernois. Why would you want to lock yourself into their "proprietary" device?

Even if the tune you were to buy is great. You'd NEVER be able to leave Livernois. NO ONE uses their device for tuning. If you were to ever decide to change tuners, you're SOL with their device. It would turn into a $500 paperweight.

If you go with a tuner who uses an SCT or HPTuner device, you can always jump ship to someone else and try their tunes. AND if you ever got froggy enough, you'd even be able to tune yourself (with some software purchases, of course, but the capability is there).

Huh your right. I have an expensive paper weight over there.

I think SCT wanted around 5,000.00 for me just to be able to tune my own car.

For comparison I paid around 800 total to tune car and truck and anyone who unlocks their VIN with hptuners.

SCT's software is $349 at Summit. But yes an absolute trash product from an absolute trash company.

I've never had any issues with my LMS tune. I've had the 91 tune installed for 3+ years. That said, if I were going to get a new tune I would not mess with LMS. As mentioned, there are better tuners that don't lock you into their device.
