On my very long search for a new "Modern" power plant for my 83 Datsun zx. The SHO was in the final 3 engines choices. My friend found this out and gave me one of his SHO's since he has gone the route of a 350TT in a S10. It's a factory all around 92 SHO. Ya'll might hate me for hackin up an SHO, but i am here to learn more about the engine it's self. The MTX is shot in it, thus it was free. But it does not matter anyway since i'll be using a M50DR1. Once I return home in a month, i'll be glad to distribute any unused parts needed by ya'll.

Parts that will be used- Engine, Accsessorys, Engine control, Entire ABS System.

Everything else is pretty much either guna go to a good home, or be crushed.

Pretty much the only truly useful things from a SHO are the engine and transmission - the rest is nice to have, but there are others out there. If the trans is already *****'d and you're putting the engine to good use, I don't see a problem. Good luck!

Welcome in, you should be able to find all the info you will need here. What color is the interior? What kind of shape are the seats in?

you'll find most of us have no issue with crushing and parting out 20 year old ford taurus's (taurii w/e). sell what you can and study ******* this site, many people have done buggy swaps and i think there might even be someone using a 240z or 260z as a recipient of the SHO engine too.

good luck.

Gray inter, Seats show age, as any leather seat that old. I have spoken with a few people who have attempted the swap into a Z, but Transitions setback have killed them all. I hope I might be able to get past that

I think the SHO community is very accepting of motor swaps, nearly all of us agree that this is a great motor in an average chassis. I for one would love to see a SHO in a Z car, especially since there's so many other engine options that make so much more sense.

Crazy swaps ftw!

This is Very true. Like the VG30DE or even the VG30DETT. But I am large on looks, as well as efficiency. The SHO is a killer lookin engine, and fairly efficient. I'll be keeping it stock untill she's well seated into her new home with some miles on it. 220hp 200tq is well over the 145hp of the old L28E Inline 6

Welcome,

You will get no slack for cutting up a gen2 and taking it's powerplant for a swap. Without the engine...it's just a Taurus.

SHO MTX Transaxles are in very short supply, as are good intermediate shafts. don't let it get crushed....even if the transmission is "trashed", it's still got good parts....even if there's a hole in the case from a dif pin.

I am workin with DIYAutoTune to get a MegaSquirt system that will hook strait up to the factory harness, Once i get that i'll boost it about 5psi. And for the MTX the 2nd and 3rd gear is shot(I still have to put my hands on it to make sure) I'll make sure it is not crushed, and goes to a good home for the price of shipping. But I still have to get home and put my hands on it

It's VIN code is "Y" for the 3.0L and "P" for the 3.2L. If you are lookking for parts, having that info is helpful.

The SHO engine deserves a rear wheel drive car. As good as it was in the Taurus, it would be better in a rear wheeler.

I do have a question. Is there a Engine Code for the 3.0L SHO? like RB25DE and VG30DE

No fancy engine code, but if it had one it'd be happier with a T (or two) at the end, like the codes you gave :)

I think pretty much everyone here has imagined the SHO motor in a RWD application once or twice. I still think a RWD '82 Corolla wagon could host a SHO motor...

If you feel like going to Florida you can see a RWD Taurus SHO.
