Hey all, I posted in the general section yesterday about a car I am thinking about. 97 sho, 100k, $4000. I live in NW Wisconsin and was wondering if anyone near me welds cams. It would save me a trip to PP in Madison. If you get a chance to read my other post, any advise would be appreciated!

Performance Plus or a guy named Eric in Lomard, Il is your best bet! Eric welded my cams, insulated the rear wiring harness, and offers a warranty for as long as you own the car, can't beat that! And he's cheaper than PP.

Just make sure the tranny is good and get the cams welded ASAP! And you'll love it!

Your down by the twin cities eh? Right by Taylor Falls and that area, I'm down in the cities every once in a while maybe we'll have to meet up sometime. I live in Minnesota though.

Do you have any contact info for Eric? How much cheaper was he than PP?
I wonder if it would be cost effective to drive further south to meet with him. Madison is 6 hours away, do you know how much further Eric is?

Normal cam welding service includes oil change and new platinum sparkplugs.

Gaskets are normally ok and do not require replacement. If gaskets require replacement or further repair is required, owner will be informed immediately and decisions can be made from that point.

Teardown, engine cleaning, new plugs and oil change with filter = $450.00 with warranty in writing.

I also will take digital photos of my customers' engines while they are apart and provide copies to them.

In other words, when the engine is in pieces, I will put a sign on the engine and take photos of it with the name of the owner and VIN # on the sign. In the background the welds will be visible on the sprockets. If nothing else, this may help them to sell the car someday.

Sounds like a good deal. Eric will be hearing from me to set up an appointment shortly. Performance Plus quoted $525 for cam welds, $54 more for plugs, $150 more for cleaning. This is just for comparison purposes, not to bad mouth Performance Plus by any means. Hey Eric, do you have any pics of your welds?
