I want my front and rear end to be a little lower than it currently sits. I have cut the Intrax one coil up front, but it could still use a little more drop. I would like to drop the rear a little more also, but don't want to cut the spring because it was pretty loose in the strut how it came and cutting one coil would let it flop around. I haven't lower the strut in the knuckles yet so that would give a 1/2" or so also.

But.... I started looking at some of my suspension pictures and got thinking. Looking at the picture below... couldn't I cut the rubber nubs in half at the top of the spring and drop the car a little without changing hardly anything? I guess I could cut them completely off and get almost an inch or so, but would probably increase NVH.

What do you all think? Am I looking at this wrong?

Only the rear has nubs like that. The front doesn't have that, so this is only feasible to do in the rear. I don't really see any reason why you can't though!

Just remember that as the suspension flexes the strut angle changes a bit, and the rubber is there to allow the strut to move around without putting too much stress on the tower sheet metal. Removing that rubber will reduce the amount of flex that the mount can tolerate and put more stress into the metal around the top mount.

Just something to consider.

Since it's only in the rear, I'd leave it and just drop the strut. In the rear you have much more strut dropping potential since you don't have to worry about the bolt that holds the koni hitting the axle.

I think if you cut the rubber the spring would move around as much as it would if you cut a coil out of the rear. I have intrax with the front springs cut and now that i have my 17s on my car i've been thinking of cutting a half coil out of the rear because of the wheel gap. But i have been holding back for the same reason stated in the original post.

In the rear, I would just drop the strut in the knuckle. Removing those rubber nubs would decrease available strut travel.

ok, i have heard this too much lately, how do you go about dropping the strut in the knuckle, and if i do drop it in the rear, what do i do to the front to even it out?
