Hey all. Gearing up to change the motor mounts I've decided that it's time for my whacked subframe to go (I bought the SHO after it had been totaled).

So I went to a bone yard and they were nice enought to drop the entire engine assy. and give me the subframe (with all the goodies) for a hundred bucks.

My question is if there is anything I should do to the new subframe before I install it, such as sandblast it and paint it, or coat it in some marine goop. I'm in New York, but there isn't a spot of rust on the car, or the new frame. Just wondering if I should treat it at all while it's out.

Thanks in advance,
Matt

when I replaced mine the 'new' one had some rust once we got off all the grease, so we painted it.

Very nice. It's a shame that when you change your oil filter it drips all over it. I remember way back that guy chromed his, but that just seems unnecessary, hehe, but it was cool.

Very well then, if sanding and painting is the way to go, then that's the direction I'm headed.

Thanks for the reply, and pics,
Matt
