I've been interested in SHOs for quite a while, but I just bought a 92 with 56K miles. Looks to be in good shape overall, except for the driver seat, EATC, and the stereo isn't working. I already replaced the driver seat because the day I bought it I found a guy on ebay parting out the same color SHO.

Unfortunately it's been sitting for a couple years. It's in the shop right now having all the fluids flushed and oil changed. I know I need to check the coolant hoses, but is there anything else I should look out for after sitting so long?

After lurking around a bit, I'm looking forward to being a part of the community.

Ahh, was this one at a dealer in Va Beach? I found it on craigslist, but it had already sold. Nice to see it made its way to someone who would take care of it.

Welcome, the car looks really nice. I've got a couple of 92's as well. One silver and one white. The silver car sat in a warehouse for 10 years and had some hoses and belts replaced as well.

I found it on craigslist, but the guy was in Newport News and wasn't a dealer. He just used to buy and flip from auto auctions.

Welcome in!

If the car has been sitting for a while it might be a good idea to blow out the moonroof drains. Just in case they have any gunk built up in them.

Use the free autocheck posted in the general section to see what you can learn about the cars history.

Change fuel filter. Check quality of fuel to make sure it hasn't gummed up. Especially if it's got ethanol in it ...

Check for oil in the spark plug wells. Might want to do a brake fluid flush too. I see you're local. What city?

Welcome to the SHOsanity! Where in VA are you located? There are two local groups serving the VA community. The Capital SHO covers the general N. VA area(along with DC, MD areas), while the Tidewater SHO group covers southern VA(and NC-SC). Check out your local group to learn about your local community. :salute:

I thought that seat looked awfully torn up in those pictures. I wonder what happened to it...

So your Silver car (looks like Silver in the picture) is one 883 in that color made in 1992 out of 7818 SHO's that year. Only 236 came with grey leather seats. It's great you found a low mileage car in really good condition.

You're in the Tidewater SHO Club area, with several SHO owners in the Tidewater area. There's also a good SHO service available, just south of you, in Hertford, NC. Paul Myers, of North Carolina SHO Repair, has been a great support for many club members. You can check out the TSHOC in the club area of the forum and we also have Facebook Page and Group areas to serve the local SHO community. Jump on in, the water's fine! :salute:

I'll have to check him out. I'm going to be needing a 60K soon, and I wouldn't trust myself with something that in-depth yet.

He's pretty close, especially from Chesapeake. Just get on rt 17 and roll out. There's even an Arrow Trucking sign to help find the place once you get close. A little distance but usually not alot of traffic.

Doing a 60K is not very difficult but it can be intimidating your first time. It will run you a few hundred dollars in parts and tools if you do it yourself. Get to know some of the guys in your area and i'm sure you will get a lending hand.
