Hi all. Bought a used 2013 white SHO a few months ago. Car runs great, but, recently had a check engine light which did go out after a week or so. My cheapo harbor freight scanner says it’s a P0455 evap leak. I know our SHOs have a different design of purge valve than the “standard” 8mm double bolt flanged valve very common on 09 and up ecoboost engines (someone correct me if I’m wrong on that? But pretty sure I’m right cause I found the purge valve in the “valley” and it looks way different). I disconnected the electrical harness to it and took off the one end near body of Valve and with engine running I don’t feel a vacuum with finger tip. With engine still running, I plugged harness back in and I do feel a vacuum “pull” on my finger. I ran the car for a few days after all the I/M’s went to “complete” and had no errors or codes for a day or two and then, wham, evap code P0455 snuck in again. Maybe the valve is “starting” to go and fails every now and then? I also had the check fuel fill light /code a while ago but YouTube videos showed me how to clean that good and it has not popped up. Hate these environmental systems on ANY car!!!

Anyway, glad to be a new member and any advice on above would be appreciated. Car runs fine even with that p0455 evap code. Can’t “sense” any difference myself. Runs strong, etc.

The valve gradually loses the ability to hold vacuum over time once it starts failing, so doing "instantaneous" testing will not work. you need to put a vacuum gauge on it to check. And yes these purge valves do fail, and cheap enough to replace them. Find the part you need on the dealer site using your SHO's VIN.

NA 3.5 but you get the idea about the 5:40 mark
