I but a 96 SHO about a year ago that had a leaking head gasket. I got it home and found out it was bought in Bakersfield CA when new and found a registration under the seat from 2003. It doesn't have a spec of rust on it. About 6 months ago I boight a 97 SHO that wouldn't pass inspection because of rust and parted it out. I saw a reseipt were the engine had been replaced at a Ford dealer because the cam gear let go. The engine and verious other parts have been transplanted to the Ca car and it is going quite good.

This is the only way I could find to post. I hope it is okey.

I live in NH and first thought of finding a SHO club then I found my way here. I am a mechanic at the University of New Hampshire.

Welcome to the forum! Do you know if the cams were welded on the replacement engine? If not, you'll want to get that taken care of ASAP.

yes I agree but somehow I pictured something like a dawel pin in the other way. I am going to have to check that because when I asked seller about welded cam gears I don't remember if he was saying pinning was better or they had been pinned.

I still have the original engine that was leaking coolant into the compretion chamber. I tore it down to the short block because that was the only apparent problem.

I guess I will hang on to it.
