Hey all, I'm brand new here. I just picked up a Gen 3 SHO for my daily driver. Here's a few pics of it - along with a couple shots of my truck.

96 black sho, (appt. for gettin my cams welded next weekend), completely stock, 115k miles, got it from the original owner (65 year old retired police officer, he said he always babied it.) interior was immaculate until I stepped into it with my snowy shoes.

the truck: 2000 ford ranger, fastbagged all the way around, 1/2" ports and air lines, front-back-side-side, completely shaved all around, fuel cell, monster notched, molded tailgate/rear bumper, LED tails, EDGE bumper, billet, subs, 7" LCD, dual flowmasters, blah blah.

I'll have some mods comin for the SHO, but I'm a broke 20 yr old college kid, so money's a little tight.

about 5 days after I got the car, the CD changer is now sayin BAD CD. Is there a known fix for this? Or is it shot? I have an ipod with the fm modulator stuff so I can play my 30 gigs of music on that through the car stereo...but a cd player would be a nice backup.

I've always loved these cars, I'm real excited about it...much better than the 3.slow engine in the ranger.

I just stumbled on this website yesterday, I'm a regular member over on www.rangerpowersports.com/forum . I'm sure I'll be a regular here as well, I've already learned tons - especially this cam welding business, you guys just saved my ride. If any of you are interested in mini trucks or even lifted/baha anything ranger...check it out. theirs TONS of valuable info.
Thanks!!

P.S. This is what I sold to buy the SHO

thanks for the replies/compliments.

SHOv6, what year is your explorer? It depends what gen expo you have, as the suspension setups on them are different, and so would the air ride setups. Lemme know and I'll do some searches for you and recommend products if you're serious about bagging it.

Here's a pic of the bed so you can get a little better idea of how the suspension setup works.
It's got a 10 switch box, 12 gallon air tank, 2 viair 450 chrome compressors, and 8 1/2" valves. I ran with a fuel cell because the stock gas tank sat about 1/4" below the frame, and when I drag the truck - you also would be draggin the gas tank. sparks + gas =

the bed has since been rhinolined and doesn't look so dirty....this is an outdated pic. but you get the idea.
(mods, I realize it's gettin a little off-topic for 'general sho discussion', feel free to move it to an appropriate board. however, I do still have the cd changer question :thumb: )

My changer does the same thing every winter. In the spring it starts working again. If you open the changer and remove the cartridge and reinsert it the changer will try to operate again. Sometimes it will work again, sometimes it won't.

I've bought a Kenwood changer and an adapter from Soundgate but I haven't installed it yet since every spring when I go to install it the stock changer works.

You may want to do a search on www.v8sho.com. I believe someone over there had some luck opening it up and adjusting something inside.

WOW NICE RIDES MAN!!!! WELCOME to the forum:thumb: That Gen III is sooo clean man!! Good find!

Hey I am getting a ranger soon and was thinking of an airbag suspension kit for it. How would that system be for hauling stuff around? I started a painting business, and need a truck to haul ladders and paint and equipment around. I see the bed is pretty much just housing the tank and suspension. Is there other ways of doing this mod as to leave the bed more intack?
