im 40 i live in Chelsea ok. I've owned a 92 sho that I loved. First I blu the dif out of the transmission replaced the transmission. then I threw a rod out the side of it and sold it and i wish I hadn't. Now im buying a 2011 sho tomorrow that has a rod sticking out the side of it. Planning on going to the salvage for parts. I'm cheap. And im trying to find compatible parts.maybe from non turbo cars if possible but i don't know if they have the same block or rods. And probably tuning info. Supposedly the person im buying it from put a set of ford performance turbos on it and didn't tune it. And that is why it blew. but I don't necessarily believe that. but time will tell ether way I still need to know about tuning on this platform. do I get sct or hp is there something better. I would like to get in to tuning myself but dsi really don't want you to. And I really don't want to scatter another motor

Welcome

The 3.5 NA and 3.5 ecoboost have almost nothing in common…besides displacement.

For tuning most use SCT but there are a few HP tuners out there. As for doing it, my advice would be leave it to the pros. From several years of experience with this platform one thing I’ve learned is the transverse 3.5 ecoboost for whatever reason is a finicky engine to tune without specific experience. Not that it can’t be done but for the money and longevity of your engine I’d stick with a seasoned reputable tuner.

Good luck with the endeavor.
