hey guys i am 17 yrs old and a owner of a 1995 red atx i personally have fell in love with the car. i find it funny when people say " oh its only a taurus" haha
i have big plans for this car and hope to have them done by the end of this summer
i want to do a mtx tranny swap and plan on rebuilding the engine and throwing a turbo on it.
i have questions tho does the mtx tranny hold up to the turbo or is it just as bad as the atx
and what all needs to be switched out if i would happen to do the tranny swap besides (mounts, shifter, clutch pedal assembly and computer)

Welcome! I hope you are gainfully employed! Here are a few things from one 17 year old to another:

1) Clutch dumps are bad for SHOs
2) Friends will rag on your car FOREVER, even after you beat them several times.
3) While the motor is out so your Rod Bearings and Front/top 60K
4) SHOs are money pits but don't give up.

I'm sure there is more, jsut remember that the first 3 things to do are
MAINTENANCE
MAINTENANCE
MAINTENANCE

Yes, maintenance before performance in EVERYONE's opinion.

The ATX-MTX swap is usually the swap of the whole subframe, it's been done a few times.

that's sweet dude. i bought my red 95 atx right before i turned 17 (9 years ago). and yes, i got comments all the time of it just being a taurus. but back then the fastest thing in town was a turbo civic and my car ended up getting mad respect. be sure to do all your maintenance before spending it on fun stuff. oh, and good to have you here!

hey thanks but we start a little early if you know what i am saying lol i need some advice this weekend was steel valley super nationals in youngstown and i am still seriously thinking about turbocharging my car my car is still mostly stock and i my best time was a 16.1 should i stay will the atx and worry about changing my tranny ever few month or is it worth swaping and turbocharging the crew2999 i might take you up on that offer no its youngstown ohio which is a little cruise to williamsburg but nothing serious
