Okay, so the other day I replaced my fuel pump (old one was some brand that started with a C or some shit) and buttoned everything back up.
First off, the pump was like a half an inch taller than the one I removed and was recommended I keep the stock fuel umm... buffer thing? looks kind of like a regulator but from what I gather it's supposed to keep the pump from hammering the fuel lines/injectors what-not...but anyways, it runs great, and has alot more power especially above 4k rpm's..
Okay, this is what it's doing... after sitting overnight, I start it to move it to get to another vehicle... I go back to her after about 20 minutes as I have to go somewhere.... go to start and she's hard to start unless I give a little throttle... then she runs a little rough. and spits some smoke out of the back and it smells like unburnt fuel...
If I rev it to the 4k shutoff it's slot to "buck" as where the old pump that was in there if I revved it like that, it was like zoom.zoom.zoom.zoom....
the new pump is like zoom.....zoom.....zoom.....zoom....
Make sense? Follow me here?
I still have power while it's in gear...
1995 ATX 207k+ Green.
I have replaced the cam sensor with a new one as my tach was being ******** but throwing no codes...
I used to have a bunch of codes thrown until I replaced my alternator, O2's and Cam Sensor..
I am wondering since that pump is taller if I might have a fuel leak in the tank because I had to slightly wedge and bend the holding clip in and the fuel dampener (if I am correct) was a tight fit once the pump was in..
It's the SHO Source 155LPH pump @ stock pressure...
I know I still need to do bearings, motor mount and need a trans (anyone have one they are willing to part with? lol) but I installed everything correctly (used floor cut method with my new pneumatic metal shears.. that was fast and fun and left me with a clean hole.. heh
My question is, should I remove that fuel dampener thinggie and just put fuel hose between the pump and the bracket or what, and what would that hurt doing that?
Thanks guys.. I love my ride... we might even sell the two other vehicles we have and use it as a down payment on the new sho.. my wife just loves the pics and everything she's read and seen on it.. lol
:thankyou:
