my SHO died last week. after 168k miles the rod bearing went. After doing some checking I found it would be easier to just get a good condition used engine rather than try and fix mine. After a few calls I found a good one out of a 95 with 74k miles on it. Total cost with tax/shipping to my house was $864. I will be doing the swap along with my father.

After closly inspecting the motor I know i will have to do some things before it goes in. Plug well have oil in them so..more than likely no 60k was done. Im just glad that it will be 200% easier with the motor out of the car. A little more money but..well worth it.

I just was wondering..is there anything I should really look out for when changing the motor? Im sure Ill do whatever maintence things need done while im there...like motor mounts and such. But any problem areas I might not be looking at?

On a side note..all my friends have been asking "Why dont you just get a new car?" I just gotta tell um.."Ill never sell my SHO"

Wish me luck..Ill let you know how it turns out.

I'd put new bearings in the new motor and new crank seals on both sides. Do all the 60k work with it already out. Check the valve shim gaps. New t-belt. You know the drill. Good luck!

And another thing, what kind of car could you have gotten for the $864 you spent on the engine. :D :D
