New carpet, this is the high quality stuff that I was talking about not too long ago. This is the best aftermarket carpet I have ever seen, as good or better than OEM!

Your interior is really coming along nicely. I would like to know where you bought the carpet as well. Also, how much did it cost?

I have already spoke with Buzzy about a group buy for this carpet. The guy that makes this stuff started out making them for the 94-96 Impala SS. He had the same problem as us in not being able to find OEM or better carpet so he started having them himself. I approached him about making carpet for SHOs and he said he would do it, I agreed to buy the first one and try it out then post the results. Here is his Impala SS carpet site: www.impalasscarpet.com . I am sending him the pics of my install and he is going to set up a site for SHOs. He is also going to do floormats out of the same high quality carpet and custom embroidery. I am gathering up ideas for stuff that can be embroidered like SHO logos Ford logo the Yamaha logo (if he can get the license from them for it). The carpet was $296.00 shipped, it weighed 40+ pounds and was surprisingly easy to work with. I will post more about the carpet in another thread.
The digital dash that I used was easy to install it will work in any 90-91 first gen and any second gen (the 89 has a different dash, there is one that will fit though) the hard part is finding a donor car for the parts. You need the following: the cluster, the 2 connectors for the cluster. the dash trim and function buttons, the chime module and connector for it, you also have to slightly modify the wiring for the lamp out module and add 3 wires to the engine compartment (one for the temp gage, one for the fuel computer, and one for the VSS). Everything seem to work more or less the only things that are odd are: 1) The fuel computer is off by exactly 1/3 ie it will say you are getting 7.5 MPG when you are getting 22.5 MPG I know I can fix it but just have not had time yet 2) The tach stops at 7000 RPM 3) This is something that will not effect many people that do the conversion but my cluster is for a Methanol car and has a % Methanol readout vs a gallons remaining readout, obviously it does not work. The tach work fine and the speedo does go past 85 (I have know idea where it stops :D )

Oh, and the eq really make the stock system come alive. It lets you tune the mids like you shoud be able to without bringing the lower bass to distorting levels, I was really happy with the results.

It all looks very sweet! I love the idea of the digital eq and that digital guage looks really good too. So far you have really transformed the interior a bunch, good job! thumb thumb

Thanks! I really like the layout of the dash but when I got the car everything looked to "thrown together", blue radio display, green EATC, green LCD clock, the buttons on the radio did not match ANYTHING else in the car, it all looked rushed and unfinished to me. The first thing I did was convert all the dash lights to blue, put in a 93-95 blue vacuum florescent clock (to match the other displays), replace the radio with a second gen one (yes, it lock in place) and replace the EATC with a blue one. Next I added the digital dash (blue of course). After that I added the second gen console (looks much better and fit perfectly) and converted the tape/lighter panel to a housing for the Probe EQ. I still have a few things left to do, put my black steering wheel on, finish modifying the dash bezel to correctly fit the digital dash, and I was thing about painting the gray section of the dash bezel glossy black. I'm also working on radio buttons on the steering wheel.

it's easier said then done, not becuase of the unit, but becuase of the rareity of the unit. i never did it becuase i could never find one! :p but i beleive its as easy as pigtailing it into the factory radio/cd unit.

jelloslug i think you win for the coolest looking gen I interior!! thumb thumb

The EQ was really easy, it uses the same connections as the slave cd player do, you just need to cut the output lines of the CD player and hook them to the input on the EQ, then hook the output of the EQ where the CD player was hooked to. The power connections were the same as the CD player. The bezzel is made from the existing plate that was there, I just cut the tape holder off of the back and filled the lighter hole sanded everything smooth and painted it with black texture paint.

Ok, that's not too bad. Hey Ohioshodude, if you go to www.probetalk.com you will find tons of stock EQ's for sale. You have to click on forums, then do a search. You do have to join though, but that takes about 2 minutes. I found a some in just a few minutes time, and they were all around 30 dollars.

So the Gen II console fit right in with no problems? I'm thinking about throwing in a 93-95 center console into my 92.

The 92 shares the same center console as the Gen I (except tray under radio) while the 93-95's have a curved elbow rest/storage compartment.

wow i feel so ********! hehe thanks for the link! i looked in 3 different junkyards, on ebay, and other online sites and nothin! i may just have to try that now! thumb

hey jelloslug, any chance i could get a closer picture of your guages. i'd like to see how the buttons work/fit in the dash. i wonder if the sable dash buttons would fit. i've never seen a 89+ taurus with the digital guages and i know where i could get the button on a 95 sable. you think the buttons you used would work on a gen II sho, or are they molded into the dash? shrug

It will fit just fine, you just need to get the mounting brackets that bolt to the floor and the dash when you get the console.

I'd like to see how the buttons work/fit in the dash.
That the trickiest part of the whole install. The buttons are a module that bolts into the dash bezzel. The bezzel has a hole and mounting bracket molded into the plastic. The buttons from the Sable will work but the dash trim will not fit, Sables have a different dash. I got most of the parts for mine from a 90 Sable (same problem, it has a different dash) What I first did was to cut the entire plastic "box" that surrounds the cluster and tried too get it to fit the metal overlay from my SHO bezzel, it did not fit so I cut off the button section and mounted it to my bezzle, I still have to finish blending the 2 parts together and trimming everything down. You my be able to get this to work on a second gen I would just have to see the bezzel to know. Any set of parts for any Taurus-Sable for 90-95 can be made to work, you just need to get ALL the parts. I know there were digital dash Tauii in 90-91 (there listed in the owners manual), and I know there are digital dash second gen Sables (I have seen those) but I don't know if there were ever digital dash second gen Taruii. I would love to get my hands on a real 90-91 Taurus digital dash bezzel (if you run across one let me know :D ) I guess I'm gonna have to make a tutorial for this, since so many ppl are interested.

Could you by chance please tell me where in the engine compartment you attached the three wires?
You make one connection at EEC pin 3 (VSS signal)
one connection and EEC pin 34 (Fuel flow, NOTE: this pin is not used on SHO EEC units and does not have a wire for it from the factory, you will have to make a hole and put your own wire in the harness) and you make a connection at the coolant temp sender (NOTE: you have to replace the front coolant sender with the same type as the back sender or the temp gage will not work)

I can't quite tell from the pictures: What color does the cluster glow, the 1st Gen Green, or the 2nd Gen Blue-Green? It seems to match everything else in your car, and it looks like everything (including the clock) is 2nd Gen. So, which is it? Thanks!

Jelloslug, any interest in parting with your original cluster. I'm in the process of converting my gen 2 lighting from blue to green.
