Hi everyone!

New SHO owner here from CT (Fairfield county area for those interested). I've been a lurker on the SHO forums for a very long time (since I was 16 or so and the SHO bug bit me), and since I finally got an SHO 4 years later I figured I should make an account to be social and what not. The car itself is a black 89 with about 80k on the clock, runs like a top. I bought it for $725, the owner had inherited it from a dead relative who was a SHO nut and it had sat for a few years since then (he has a 96 for sale too if anyone local is interested), it started like a champ on the first crank after I jumped it.

The good:
The interior is nice, the driver's seat has a torn bolster and the drivers door panel needs help but everything else is prefect
The engine runs like it's brand new
The clutch was recently replaced
The suspension feels too good to be original but I could be wrong
It's had it's 60k and then some, new CPS and CSPS
The guy threw in a brand new battery he had for a truck he sold
The car came with every service manual Ford ever printed for it and the 89 dealer brochure

The bad:
The radiator has a bad end tank, so that needs to be replaced asap
The A/C has no charge
The exhaust is is holier than Swiss cheese
One of the shift cable ends broke 2 days ago
The passenger side quarter panel has rust below the gas filler, the underbody looks rust free though.

All in all, I think I got a decent deal on it, and for the 3 days I got to drive it before the shift cable broke it was an absolute blast. Hopefully I can find a rod-shift conversion decently cheap and quickly so I can have more fun with it. Anyone on the forums local? I'd love to see other SHOs, I'm sure the more I drive it the more boring stock will be. Once I fix the cable enough to drive it home I'll snap some photos of it and it's Crown Vic stablemate.

I saw another black Gen 1 on Boston Ave. a couple days ago, thought about rolling down the window and saying hi but didn't really get the chance. I see a red Gen 2 drive by the Fairfield train station by where I work all the time. Makes me want to fix the exhaust as soon as I can, all these other SHO owners must think I'm a ricer with all the rasp and lack of muffling (the muffler has a giant rust hole in the back, and past the cat there isn't much left of the factory pipes).

Welcome and Thank You for not asking how to turbo/NOS right away.

Trust me, its not just this forum, I have an account on sixthsphere.com too (my first car was a Saturn). The first post is always either "H0w d0 i @dd n0z????!!!111" or "Can I put a Cummins diesel turbo on my car with stock parts?" or the best "I'm new how do I change my oil oh BTW my 1.9l makes 300hp with bolt-on's 'cause my friend with the Honda said so". I think that comes with every car forum. Oh well, thanks for the warm welcome, depending on when that Feb. meet is I might be able to come.

Don't worry, mine sounds like a bee's ass too.

Sounds like a decent find, welcome in. I have been lurking on this forum for the past 7 years or so since I was about 16-17 as well, and have only been active in conversation for about a year. I moved into CT from MA about 6 months ago (about 30 minutes from where I used to live in Chicopee). We are definitely in a good area for SHO enthusiasts and just car enthusiats in general. You are not far from a helping hand should you need one.
