Here's some independent testing a week apart with stock turbos and fuel pump. Both near zero DA..... I would consider this "winter weather" LOL. The dotted line is with the stock intercooler. The two higher hp runs are heat soaked vs a 10 minute cooldown time... You can see the vehicle is much more happy with the intercooler. But by all means don't buy it. Keep the same mindset that has held this platform back for the last 8+ years.99e5f7cf2206ea16676c7f1e72191cc9

Define hot weather? Any tracks open in the dead of winter?

So only people that track their car are going to buy that? And yes, I would think that down south there tracks open in the winter. Oh, and California too.

Look at the results I just posted.... If you aren't looking for maximum performance out of your tuned SHO/Flex then you don't need this. I've cleared a major hurdle for those who want to go faster. I see you like to shoot holes in any product that comes out for the platform by looking at your other posts. If you like the way Ford let it roll off the assembly line, by all means that's fine.... Just don't try to dump on performance mods for the rest of us please.

Jeff, I would gather, based upon results displayed, that EVERYONE can/would benefit from this upgrade.

I wouldn't relegate it's use to just those that track their cars specifically.

For instance, even in the midwest, where we see temp extremes from season to season, even those that drive their SHO's and get stuck in city traffic congestion etc. rather than having a heat soaked OEM IC from sitting in traffic, once it opens up, and say one wants to have a little spirited fun, then you can cuz of the much improved cooling properties of this new IC.

Even for those that motor year around (on the street only) particularly in hotter climates (the Texas, AZ. & Cali areas come to mind) they are going to reap benefits day in, day out.

Remember, these engines, and all of their ancillary parts seem to run hot by design. Which heat is never good. Especially excessive heat at that. Any ability, or opportunity one has available to bring temps down, across the board, is a tremendous thing.

Thanks. I was under the impression that in winter conditions it would not make that much of a difference. My bad.

I'd love to buy it just to protect the engine long term same as a catch can let alone the extra performance it provides . My only reticence is it not running on the stock ECM if there is ever there was a warranty problem and I had to revert back.

I think a dealer woud be hard pressed to find a way to prove that a new IC was the cause of any warranty problem
I was thinking of the fact that it produces a CEL not so much that the ic did anything to harm the car .

You dont have to revert back to the stock intercooler. Fords warranty will still stand unless the root cause was the intercooler. Just say the factory one started leaking and you upgraded.

What you might have a harder time to prove is that you DONT have a tune if you have other tidbits.

Would this CAC workwith a stock tune and not set a SES light. I know at that point it would not be optimized, but would it work without a light?

Yeah I’d be really curious to know if it works without a tune. Very impressive upgrade at a fair price either way

Mine was delivered last week.....

Although just like all the other upgraded, aftermarket performance parts I've been amassing over the last 6mo.'s, I really, really, REALLY need to find some time this Spring to get it all in, and then schedule me some dyno time at LMS yet again.

Have you spoken with LMS about a tune to handle the intercooler? When I spoke with them the other week, they told me that their tune is adaptive and will actually learn and compensate for the intercooler without needing a revised file. I know you’re running one of the highest HP out there and have a long relationship with those guys at LMS so I was wondering what you had heard as far as a revised tune. I’m down in FL so it’s an awfully long trip for me to head up there for a dyno tune.

Even more fun times lie ahead!

Woot! Woot!

Thanks to Matt and all his crew over at Gearhead Tuning for investing the almost last 3yrs of their valuable time to making this become a reality for the entire platform!

Oh, and I should add, a full 2" inches thick, which is a vast improvement versus factory.

I was told a similar thing by LMS and because of that, I look forward to when @bpd1151 gets his on and to their shop.
