Alright,

I've had my '90 for half a year, abouts. It came with a SLO hood, bumper, headlights, among other things. It got smashed in the front at some point and I guess they couldn't find a SHO parts car...

Anyway, I got me a white SHO bumper, and now I'm not sure if it's going to be fitting right without new fenders or something... don't know what I should do.

I (photoshop) made a quick little site to show off some images of this malady.

Clicky for pics

And yes, I'm missing the spacer that goes between the bumper and headlights / fender for now.

Any input would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks,
Jon

all should work fine bro .. the sho's fenders are the same as a regular Taurus... except for the extra plastic little ground effects the add to the doors and stuff.. but headlights and everything are all the same... You should be fine..

I will agree that the fenders are the same for both SHO and nonSHO Tauri. Comparing Dassin's SHO with others reveals a different header panel and headlights though. His headlights have only one adjuster where others have two per headlight. It is entirely possible that the parts on his car are from an older model Taurus.

Your going to have to change the header panel (the part that holds the headlights and grill), the grill, and the headlights. You have 86-88 parts on your car and they won't work with the 89-91 bumper. It does look like you have the correct fenders and corner lights though it's hard to tell from the pics.

Thanks for the responses.

I have the bumper on the car, and yeah, it basically fits. I might have to do some "adjusting" after I get my spacers to make it look right though wink

Your problem on the sides is there is a clip on each side that the bumper slides onto. You do not have them on properly. They will make your sides stick out way too far(as they are in the pic)!

Are you sure? They have to be slid in perfectly and they look like they may be either out or halfway out... I can almost guarantee that it is not on the clips fully or that part of the fender is bent out... The best way to check is to grab the bumper(right in front of the tire towards the top of the bumper) and pull lightly if it moves much they are not fully connected.

I spent half the day working on it, I'm fairly certain it's in, but I guess I'll go triple check later.

That's what I did. Just because I asked a question and have a low post count doesn't mean I'm completely incompetent. :p I think having the spacers will help, but I might also have to do some slight tweaking of some stuff to make it snug and proper.

I wasn't meaning it like that... I was just trying to help and I've gone over this a few times in the past(The same thing happened just on the rear). I have the same problem on 1 side of my front bumper and I know what to do to fix it. Just don't really have time to care. I would see about talking to FuhSHO...

The top edge of the bumper is not supposed to be touching the bottom edge of the fender, the filler strip goes in between there. It will also fix the differences between the width of the bumper vs. the fenders. Heres a shot of my '90 for reference:

It's not the "not touching" that's making me think, it's the angle that it's going out. And on the driver's side, it goes up too much :p I'm so going to have to screw with this stuff..

FuhSHO, you coming to the next NWSHOC meeting? I've got someone already bringing a set of spacers for me, but if I think of anything else, I'll be sure to let you know thumb

And Scott, I know what you're meaning.. but I have screwed with it quite a bit, and looking from behind it looks like it's going it fine. it might be more of an issue of the bumper cover fitting the bumper... not sure.

Thanks again everyone,
Jon
