Rock Auto Lists a brand new Motorcraft A/C Compressor with clutch at 190 bucks (Motorcraft P/N YCC188 ).

Since Ashleys A/C compressor is on the verge of locking up (Not to mention it has leaked freon), I am going to replace it ASAP. I need to know if this A/C Compressor listed is correct for a SHO (MTX). Since none of the other A/C items on the car leak and appear to be in good shape, I was going to leave them as is.

When replacing the A/C Compressor (I'm having a friend/shop do it, Very SHO literate) is there any issues, problems, or concerns we should have ahead of time, to make sure this goes as smoothly as possible?

Thanks!

Incorrect P/N for the SHO. That's the FS10 compressor for the regular Taurus/ Sable.

You want a 10P15F Compressor. Do a search for 10P15F or 57365 (Four Seasons).

Thank you, I ordered the correct A/C compressor.

I also got my hands on a brand new NOS accumilater/dryer.

Next, I'm looking for a Liquid Line / Orifice Tube.

FOUR SEASONS Part # 55722 is what shows up on rock-auto, I'm just making sure that would fit on the car. Any input?

...sometimes those arn't as good as new ones. The internal stuff is used to absorb moisture. If they sit for a few years and arn't used they can absorb moisture in the air and go bad before even installed in a car.

Just fyi.

The liquid line doesn't go bad, but that accumulator was built in '96...16 years ago.

I made the same mistake when I rebuit the AC in my ATX this summer, bought an NOS accumulator to be told it was bad. I cut it open and confirmed, then bought a new 'Four Seasons' one.

The liquid line has the orifice tube inside of it, I'd prefer to replace the whole thing instead of splicing in a new orifice tube...hence why I am trying to confirm that the paticular liquid line is the correct one for a SHO....

I agree, I was just giving you accumulator info.

Edit: Here's a good thread with p/n's:

The A/C system is up and running. Despite the worries of the Accumulator/Dryer being crap because it was made 16 years ago, we went ahead and used it over the 4 seasons unit as it appeared to be made so much better. It was also worth mentioning that both ends of dryer were capped off with a little bit of oil in there. After installation, it passed the leak down test and everything works flawlessly. Very happy to have this done. The car also runs so much quieter and smoother (according to Ashley, I'm in California right now) now that the A/C compressor is not on the verge of locking up.

So, since we're talking A/C systems here, what would cause the front vents to work very poorly? I don't know much about cars, especially A/C systems?

Also, glad it worked out really well. That gives me hope.
