Hey blue, Kirk was calling Mel stupid, not you. I know it sucks that the plans have changed but you should've left more than a chirp if you were committing to a 1400 mile caravan. I can guarantee you Ian had more correspondence with Kirk and Chris than just what's on this thread.blue thunder said:All out of hand. I expected more professionalism from you Kirk, but then again, I guess I didn't, do to passed experiences with neshoc. Unfortunaltely stupid is not a word that I would have used to describe anyone. I'm done with this dribble. Have fun!
As long as so few people from the northeast participate in conventions, there's not likely to be one up here. If NE people can't be bothered to make conventions in other parts of the country, why ask people from those other parts to come up here???Ace said:i personally was planning on going but i cant get the time off of work...oh well such as life...maybe next year we can have the convention up here!!!

Conventions are scheduled a year in advance and are always the third week of July. Maybe people should start planning time off NOW and putting money away NOW and next year there won't be so many "well I wish I could but..."
Chris, don't take this personally as it isn't aimed at you directly so much as the 20+ people who say they're going to go every year and then don't. Your message just pressed the button on a topic that's bugged me for a while.
Don, Jan, Ken, etc. along with the local clubs in the various convention cities work their ***** off every year to put great conventions together. To tell them "you really need to have one in the northeast" without showing them that SHO enthusiasts in the northeast support the national club is insulting. There must be at least 40 members of this forum alone from the northeast who are regular contributors to the forum as well as various SHO-related activities, but every year it still only ends up being 3 or 4 of us that actually go to the convention.
I would love to present Don and the convention committee with a proposal to hold the convention in the northeast next year, but if a group from here isn't in Memphis to support it, it's not likely to go anywhere. The convention just doesn't happen because someone decides it's going to be in such-and-such a city. It takes the work of a number of people, and if those people can't be counted on to support the national club, you really can't expect to count on them to hold a convention in their own back yard.

I'd estimate that better than 90% of the convention attendees work for a living too (me included). If someone's enough of an enthusiast, they usually find a way to make it all work out. Not everybody makes it a ~10 day excursion either -- a lot of people don't get to the convention until Monday night, and leave Friday morning.RAYJAY said:sorry if some of us have to work for a living ........
I did plan almost a year in advanced to attend. however not being able to get both weekend off to drive down and back (yes I'm in my plant 27 years) some of us just can't make it when its that many miles away
