My SHO sits high in the front and low in the back and I want to get new springs and struts. Would you guys recommend buying OEM to replace it? I dont have the money to fork out $500 for good aftermarket parts. I dont drive my car like its an Evo or anything so would OEM be fine? Would the MOOG cargo coils be fine with the stock struts? Theyre only 150 bucks for the set on SHO Bros.

suspension upgrade

lowering the front a little from stock would be a nice upgrade, and the Eibachs do a nice job of this. A used set would probably not be that hard to find cheap. Really need Tokicos however from what I have read.

Depending on mileage you have already on the car, you might just get a set of stock Gen 1 springs from salvage. I had great luck w/ Gen 1 stock springs and standard Monroe gas shocks on the 89 GL/SC car. Replaced both front and rear springs in this way. Check the spring compression rates, however, and make sure they are the stiffer variety.

As you probably already know, a good suspension job will pay superb dividends over the long run. If you are going to upgrade the springs/struts, should also do the end-links front and rear, as well as tension strut bushings.

Like I said I dont drive my car like im a rally racer hehe.. But right now my car looks pretty ridiculous the way its sitting, the fronts up very high while the back is sagging. About how much are Monroe struts? The Moog spring set still lowers the car a third of an inch and they are pretty cheap.

Keep checking ebay. 4 Sensatracs for $150. 2 rear moogs for $25. I'm not sure I am going to install the moogs. I like how the stock 89's sit. I first thought that it was low in the back end. Duh! Gen I and Gen II bodies cut different.

If the car is low only , go only with coils

If the car swings alot when taking a bump , or the struts leaks , take both.

If the car does NOT swing nor leaks , you need only coils to fix the height problem.

Saves you some cash to spend on hookers....or whatever...

if you're doing it yourself that's enough to get some new KYBs and eibachs. Doesn't include new mounts, endlinks if needed, or installation.

A set of MOOG's and KYB or Sensa-tracs would be just fine for what you need. You will want to cut one coil off the front so it doesn't ride high. You will love the feel of the back not dragging everywhere.

for the umpteenth time, you can not use kyb's and eibachs. The kybs do not have enough dampening and u will have a pogo stick like ride and wear the kybs out very quickly.

Im gonig to buy Moog CC but I want my car to sit like the intrax but I know you cant cut them that much. How much can I cut off of them without messing up KYB's? Also My car is an ATX so it weighs more up front and hopefully it will sit low. Dont the springs settle in lower over time?

My old 94 ATX sat pretty low (and looked good) with eibachs and tokicos.

I read a motivational poster today that pretty much sums up how I feel about a lot of things (including modifying the SHO).

"If you don't have the time to do it right, you don't have the time to do it again".

Substitute "time" with "money" or just add it. You may as well save up the money and do it right and do it once. If you install a stiff spring with a strut that can't dampen it, the ride will be uncontrolled and dangerous (not to mention annoying)

For a budget combo, this is the way to go. It will give a slight drop over stock, along with better handling and responsiveness. :thumb:
