I'm looking at purchasing a cowl hood for my '94 SHO. It probably won't be until at least early spring, but I want to know what I should look for. OK, I love carbon fiber, but I just don't wanna spend that much and I'd want to paint it to match my car and I'd feel bad about painting CF, so CF is KINDA out of the picture for me, unless you're really good at talking me into it. I was also, just out of curiousity, wondering if anyone makes a steel cowl hood. Mainly, I'm looking for a fiberglass one. Hit me with info, weight, fit and finish, etc. Thanks

CincySHO and SHOBros are the only places you can get what yer lookin for, unless you know how to fabricate stuff. Both of them are fiberglass, but SHOBros offers a CF hood as well. I've seen MANY CincySHO hoods, and the fit's beautiful....the finish is up to whatever body shop you get to paint it for ya.

I, personally, would have zero problem painting carbon fiber. I've been contemplating a regular CF hood and trunk for my 95 and having them painted to match the car for the sneakysneaky effect.

IIRC, the CincySHO cowl hood weighs about 20lbs less than the stock steel hood, and the CF hoods are about 22lbs...the CincySHO hood is about $500, and you gotta pick it up...the SHObros stuff is a tad cheaper, and they ship! :thumb:

dont know if i can add much more...

I too am thinking about a hood, they're very expensive, so its good that youre doing your research... OH and before anyone else does.... have you done a 60K yet?

What is the difference if you get a carbon hood, or a fiberglass one and you paint it? Youll just feel bad? Nobody will be able to tell that you have a carbon or fiberglass hood unless they look very very close... id get the carbon hood, since SHOBROS ships, plus id go in on the combo and get a spoiler too (you might not because youll paint it and the wieght savings of a spoiler are minimal) however i was contemplating that next year after the convention i go pick up a f-glass cowl from cincy just so i wont have to pay shipping, but idk if theyll be around much longer... i heard theyve been dwindleing

I too have been thinking about painting my CF cowl. But i feel the same way, i would feel bad painting it. I was thinking of posting to see if anyone that has a fiberglass cowl would want to trade for my carbon one.

why would you feel bad about painting a carbon fiber hood? If someone made carbon fiber fenders, would you not paint them? I don't see a problem with painting CF...of course, I don't have a problem spray-painting the top of my car, either....

As stated we do carry CF and FG hoods. We do offer Colored CF to go some what match your color. The CF hoods are light at 22lbs. We also offer CF trunks and spoilers.

the fiberglass hoods from shobros are like 50 cheaper then the carbon fiber. now you don't have to feel so bad about painting it.
