I just got done stripping my 3.2 down to the block. I was going to make it a high compression engine with cams and pistons and all that good stuff. I just read a thread where someone else was going to do the same, but make it a 3.3. They were told to just build up a stock engine with new seals and gaskets and bearings, and just put on a supercharger.

What is the real-world price figure on this? Lets say I have a rebuilt engine with new rings, all gaskets, bearings etc...And all stock internals. What parts would be needed? This summer I am going to do one or the other. I hope to supercharge granted it is do-able for about 5K.

Please let me know where to go to get information on this, and any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

It depends on how much power you want to make. The built motor will probably cost less, but it will also produce considerably less power. If you are really interested in supercharging your ATX, talk to Doug Lewis at FPS (SHO Dude) for a realistic price quote.

Getting a hold of 3.2L head gaskets will not be easy. You might be able to save more money by just using the motor you already have in the car and just making sure it is up to par on maintenance.

Its not for my ATX. I am going to get an MTX. Do the 3.2 conversion and either High compression NA or supercharger. Anyone else have any info??

Start off with a nice junkyard motor, do all the maintainance to it and bolt up a blower. Most of the blown SHOS run the stock bottom end anyhow. You can expect 300+ fwhp. The blower is the expensive part...buy a kit or custom fab one.

If you want lots of Hp, and trq....just go nitro.... a supercharger is only going to add so much hp, the same with a turbo.....but if you want the power all the time, supper is the way

 You can push more boost. A nitrous system really is not in the same league. Superchargers hit max boost at high rpms. Turbos hit high boost much sooner. It is safer by far to bolt on a supercharger than it is to try and run a 100+ shot of nitrous. F/I is there all the time, nitrous does not last anywhere near the same amount granted it is there instantly

Agreed, unless you manage to build a motor safe for a shot ranging in 150-200, you really aren't going to net as much as a blown or turbod sho. I haven't hear of anyone running past the 125 mark without issues.

It's a gamble whichever way you look at it. If you want a blower, you're looking at $3500 for the kit, however much for tranny and clutch upgrades, downgrading the compression, and tuning. I don't know about you but that is a tremendous chunk of change for a car that is 10+ years old. With nitrous there isn't too much of an initial hit, you don't need to go nuts upgrading everything, and even when you refill the bottles it's not too bad. If you want a 1/4 mile performer, go with the nitrous. If you want all around, go with the blower. As it stands right now, the best 1/4 mile time is on a nitrous car. You get your gains right off the bat unlike a centrifugal blower or turbo where it needs to spool up. Also, you DO NOT want to have high compression with forced induction.

I like the nitrous used as a kick~down on a carb, when the secondary's open all the way. Works great on a 350 v8!
