I have two bad tires and don't have the money to get new ones. A guy at a local tire store just got 2 225/60/16's in and they are almost brand new. I currently have the stock 215/60 and was wondering if the ride will be different with the two sizes. Also if I can safely put them on and the car not ride bad, will they be best in the front or the back? I plan on getting two more 225/60's when I can. Will it throw off the speedometer any? Thanks.

I ran 225/50s and 225/60s on my '97 for a while. I liked the rake but the ABS would turn itself off after 5 miles due to the different distance being measured. Other than that there were no ill effects.

Here is another tires size calculator thingy..

If you put the wrong size tire on a the stock rims, they ABS sensor may become messed up. If you take the car to a shop to have this done, they may make you sign a paper waiving them of any responsibility from having the ABS sensor go bad or if you get into an accident due to the wrong sized tires.

On the good side, many people have put 225 55 series tires on the car with no ill effects.

good luck!

I got front and rear rubbing with 225-60's. I moved to a 225-55 and all of that ceased. I'm back to 215-60's for the winter, since snow tires are better if they're more narrow.

I went ahead and got the tires today. After tax, mounting, and balancing, I paid $21.40 for 2 Regul Pacesetters that are almost brand new. After putting them on, I looked at my back and the top of the tires are very close to the strut but no rubbing at all. I can tell when in the car that the rear is a little higher than the front but hopefully I can get 2 more tires for the front soon.
