Friendly greetings everyone!! I am a new owner (2 weeks) of a 1997 Sho and need some help with diagnosing a front end clunk when driving over bumps/uneven surfaces. So far the struts and sway bar linkages have been replaced with no change. Any suggestions please.

Welcome Rob. Unfortunately, I know nothing about 97's...but I'm spreading the word for you. Sit tight. :)

These are the problem areas:
Swaybar bushings
strut mounts
or possibly a loose or worn subframe mount

Rob-if you didn't get new strut bearing assemblies installed this is a no no. Even if they looked good. I've seen too many mechanics (SHO gurus) look and say to me it looks ok,but they then grab it and twist a little and BINGO-it comes apart. Now this is a sho mechanic who had done hundreds of sho's and many more hundred's of other Taureses and Sables. I always had a new set to give them. But,like Wuzzer said it could be the sway bar center bushings or sub frame mount. I'm guessing the sway bar bushings. Good luck.
