Need Gen 2 stock catalytic convertors that will pass CA/NY/CO emissions

CO joined the nanny states of CA and NY and tightened the emission requirements to renew vehicle registration. I am failing on NOx, and after some research, apparently the best bet is revert to a stock Y pipe or at least the stock cats from a low(ish) mile car. My car is an MTX but at this point I'll consider an ATX pipe too to get the cats. Old limit 2.500 GPM, new limit 2.000 GPM. My result with the ShoSource high flow Y pipe (and their cats) 2.307 which would have passed under the prior limit that this car was built to meet...

I pulled what I believe is the SPOUT today (single connector next to the Crank Position Sensor connector). Drove for about 20 minutes, no CEL. A check engine light is an automatic fail here. They rarely raise the hood here so I guess we can see what happens on a retest.

Yeah I wasn't 100% on check engine (no emissions where I am) or if you had issues testing multiple times or what the cost is. If you can get useable info for not alot of $..

I think there is more than 1 of those plugs maybe different colors? I think over the years I remember seeing a black one and a grey one but it's been a long time and several SHO's since then

Did you have a recent battery disconnect? Driving it up to 100 miles is advised. I read that somewhere online from my smog failures reason research.

Just register it as CO Historical car. I read up on it and its identical rules to Pa Historical car. Then you dont need to fix anything. Drive it with only 2 front wheels and its “road legal”. No emissions also and drive it as much as you want.

That's what I love about the internet. It's full of wrong info. Or info that does not get updated when the politicians change the rules....

I have a couple cars registered as collector ('57 T-bird, 70 Cougar XR7 convertible, etc) all registered since the 2009 law change. never had issues at all. I'm considering converting those collector plates to Colorado 'Horseless Carriage' plates as they are older than 50 years old and the plates are crazy cheap at $16.56 for 5 years. Both Horseless Carraige and Collector plates have the same 4,500 mile/year limit in Colorado.

Cant wait for electric cars to take over and they have to power up the coal mines in Pa again to keep up with the electric. Idiots. Just like in Cali this summer the Governor asked people to please stop charging their electric cars but sure lets mandate them soon. Again. Idiots

The town next to me has two Tesla's as police vehicles, they both went out of service when the cold snap came, it was to cold for them to take a charge. They had to borrow a couple of explorers from our sheriffs department. They already stated last year they weren't buying more, parts are impossible and they eat tires.
