I have a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO with a build date of 02/2010. I have the Airaid intake installed. I have recently been experiencing some acceleration issues which originated prior to the installation of the intake.. When operating normally (not driving hard) I experience sluggish acceleration from 0-40 MPH. You could say that it is sluggish, definitely being hindered in some way. Also, from a dead stop or a rolling stop the power seems to dye out on me just after initial acceleration. A little scary when making a left hand turn across oncoming traffic not knowing if the car is going to pick back up and make it across. I've almost been T-Bones twice because of that issue.
I took my car into the dealership concerning these issues and told them to check TSB 11-5-3. The tech took it for a test drive and confirmed the sensations that I have described. He said that he "monitored PID Data and found several torque calcu sensors have screwed readings." In person he said that they were 15-20% off. He popped the hood and spotted the good ole Airaid CAI and stated "TSB 10-2-6 states presence of this filter can and will cause drive-ability concerns." The dealership nicely charged me a $100 diagnostics fee and sent me on my way. I did get to chat with David from Airaid and he has not heard of any issues with this intake installed on any EcoBoost platform.
I have reinstalled the factory air box and plan to take it back into the dealership for another look-see. While I was switching that airbox back out I did pop a spark plug out and confirmed that it is part number CYFS-12F-3 which is listed in the TSB 11-5-3. However, because I do not have any DTC's regarding a misfire they will not swap them out. Part of that TSB is to reprogram the PCM to the latest calibration which I think is a big part of my problem.
Any ideas on the spark plug issue? Have any of you gotten the dealership to replace them without having a misfire? I do plan on having the dealer check into TSB 11-5-6 which my vehicle does fall into with regards to a "sluggish acceleration or hesitation feel during a rolling stop..." I have at times heard a faint knock/bump but not always and this issue is not always present. It comes and goes. If I can get them to go through with TSB 11-5-6 it also calls for the reprogramming of the PCM.
Any advice?
Thanks,
Blaine
