I can get them in the $575-700 range. You'll need to let me know what you want as far as the center cartridge. standard, ballbearing, 360*, etc.

Turbo's and realistic price usually don't fit in the same sentence.

What are you looking for and what are you planning?

T3-T4 is kind of vauge, there are about 50,000 hybrid combinations out there. Most of those are going to be too small to make the flow numbers that the 3.4 requires.

Well, it really depends on what is available. At 5psi, I have some leway as far as the turbine is concerned. If I could accurately calculate exactly what ratios I would need for minimal backpressure I would have to find something very specific and probably not cheap. www.turbocalculator.com seems to have some pretty good deals. I'm only looking for about 50-75 ft lbs increase and good drivablity. Like I said, low boost leaves me some options - Had a friend in Colo. that ran a single t3 t4 on his 5.0 LX AT and it was a great machine. If you have any helpfull info let me know.

Toolman-Somewhere around $500 would be great-Used or rebuilt. It appears that you may have some good sources...what is SHOspeed Ent.? Also, what are your'e thoughts on t3 turbine housing and driveability?. I don't want to end up with a turbo that is to big for a low boost app. As far as I know, the 3.4 has never been turbocharged and most of what this project is based on is what works for factory turbo vehicles with similar displacement engines.

And you are having trouble finding one in that price range? Odd, because I brand new turbo from Turbonetics (list price even) is less than $900. Should not be a problem finding a new one for around $750.

I like Turbonetics products. Come with a warranty, polished housings, and heve been great as far as reliability is concerned.

IMO, for a low boost application on the 3.4, you really do not have to limit yourself to a t3/4. Sure, your boost repsonse will be great, but the 3.4 makes enough airflow to turn a larger assembly with no lag problems. And A/R and compressor trim have much to do with lag as well. Here is a link to a quick overview of what Turbonetics has available.

I also have a 3.4 and was curious. will a turbo decrease the life expectancy of my engine and/or components drastically, or can i safely choose a turbocharger that is custom to my car? I mean i understand that by introducing forces like that you are going to get accelerated wear, but how accelerated?

Toolman, thanks for the link to the Turbonetics "Matrix" It was actually very helpfull. Previously, when searching for a turbo I was unable to download that chart and the price list. When I went thru the forum it worked. Yes, Turbonetics has very nice products indeed. The T4 .65 seems to be the best option for price and size. List price is $900...Where can I find one for less(around $750)--Vendors?

IMO, a turbo is easier on the engine than a SC. Trans is another issue.

The nice thing about the turbo is that there is little parasitic loss, and it take only exhaust gas to drive the unit. The SC takes a lot of power to turn, and that power is transferred onto the crank, bearings, etc. Nothing that you can not get around by keeping up with your maintenance, but you will likely need to replace your rod bearings more often.

On my turbo, I have not done a thing to the engine for 50k+miles, until recently when I replaced the rod bearings. And they looked very nice. Probably had over 60k miles on them (some from previous owner). ALso keep in mind that this car keeps getting stronger. The 430whp dyno was well into 40k miles into the engines life. And I fully expect another 40k before a rebuild is in order.

Injectors-What works and what does not? I realize that V8 inj's have some specific charachteristics and I recall reading an article online about bigger injectors that will work(demensions wise).
