This part is on the top right of the intake and to the left of the throttle body when looking under the hood head on. It has a wire connected. Now my car has been making a LOUD whining noise. While i noticed the noise was coming from the tb and actually making it vibrate a bit. So fiddling around i discovered this part was making the sound. I disconnect it and it doesn't make any sound. It also doesn't make a sound when accelerating. (open throttle) What is this? Does it need replaced? Thanks for the help!!

That is the idle air control valve, it allows air into the motor and controls idle speed. They can cause a high pitched whine, my original one did. I replaced it for other reasons and the whine went away. They are not cheap though.

AutoZone has a Wells one, TV215, for $74.99 with a 3 month warranty.

I think O'Reilly's has one with a lifetime warranty, for not much more than AutoZone, but I can't recall....their website is screwing up on me and not letting me pick a store to find out!

Okay, now "for other reasons" like what? Could this possibly be why my car doesn't want to maintain idle every now and again. Well it has happened a few times anyway. Yeah thanks for looking prices and stuff up but they may change by the time i get to it unless i have to replace it (car won't run). I gotta figure out why may damned brake pedal is going to the floor and barely any brakes :madflame: . There may be a post in the brakes sections soon but I need to get to bed zzzzz

On the ATX, when you disconnect the IAC, it will stall out if you do not apply gas to keep an idle.

Brakes? Do you pop a fuse everytime, or that once? If so, look towards the MC switch, under the master cylinder. If this turns out to be the problem, you can get one from Ford for $20 or so, part # F2VY-9F924-A. I had the same problem!
