Hey, good people.

I'm sorry for the lack of a clearer title. Recently, I noticed some smoke coming out from under the hood of my 94 ATX SHO. It was coming out from the right side. I pop open the hood, and it appears to be coming from somewhere down low, between the engine and the firewall.

I have checked all fluids (except freon) and I'm not missing any. A/C runs fine, except for occasional spurts of not blowing cold air. When I step on the gas and rev it up to around 3500, the cold air comes back. The only "leak" I see, is the condensation from the compressor. Is this normal? Is there any other way to check the source of this smoke?

It doesn't smell like oil burning...

Thanks for any wisdom you can provide.

Well, I had it checked out; the fellows at the shop say that the compressor is sweating right onto the exhaust. The more I push the engine, the hotter it gets, the more it sweats and pours onto the exhaust.
Could have been much worse!

Thanks,
John

Sounds bogus to me. The compressor doesn't "sweat".

When the AC is on operation, there is condesation that drains out of the evaporator core drain (directly below the lower evaporator inlet line). There can also be condensation on the suction/accumulator and its lines, but the compressor?

BTW, sounds like your AC system might be in need of servicing. It is not notmal for it to drop out as you described.
